    Re: breaks

i was more reffering to chable like material as being undanceable. stuff like icey (as bad as it may be), i can see how people get into and enjoy it. timo maas can rock it out when he plays a breaks set, those style breaks have a lot more engery and enthusiasm then say a lot of prog breaks.

and jtodd, don't take any of what i said personally, i even own one of YOUR breaks records

      Re: breaks

breaks are the shit. it's a nice fucking release from the constant untz untz untz untz untz. a good dj will lay one in at great timing ... just to pick up the pace or reset the sound palette. i am all for it. and there are tons of good breaks songs that kill your straight 4 beat. word.

Yeah I also saw you went back and changed that post. There were a ton of words misspelled, and don't try to wiggle your way out of it.

And in case you're wondering about how many posts I read. Look at my title. Platinum all the way. You might wanna try learning a little something about music...and etiquette before posting about things on here.

I'm starting to really get into breaks, or i think I am anyway - if you class the recent stuff from Michael Lanning,Jacob Todd and Sentient Audio Collective then yes.

And also check out Pot Shuvit-Conversations from Warren's Shanghai - absolutely awesome track!

          Good music is good music.....period

don't worry about it bud dyslexics are supposed to have higher than average i.q. . so not gonna complain about ure reading abilities . and not many can teach me about music ( espesh you) though i don't know half of whats out there i know more than most ( i followed sasha round his 1st 5 residents). i been listening along time . and my point about breaks ain't the tracks. i had the missfortune of seeing groovearmada at space and every second track they kocked off beats at the intro and pissed about trying to b clever instead of letting music flow . then on my b/d night out i went to glasgow to see yusef ( 11 hours of travleing within 24 hrs ) and the cunt didn't mix a track just kept pissing about trying to show what he could do .. those are what i'm going on about dj's breaking off the beats to fuckabout . if i wanted to see dj shadow or scratch perverts id'e go to those sort of clubs

              Re: breaks

I love big fat party breaks. Plumps, Stantons, Breakfastaz... all good!

Some breaks in a prog set can really help spice it up a bit, John Lisle and Zabiela for example can both put them to great use with devastating force.

                  Re: breaks

thanks for the guys who have supported me on this ( though there must b more on here ) but i have read alot of posts concerning this and they have used the term " prog breaks" a few times. progressive is what it says on the lable it progresses through the night night building a mood then reaches it's hight in the last 3 tracks . break= breaking the beat /break=stopping the mood and changing it in an instant . progressive breaks is a contradiction almost (cos as i said sometimes a good dj will play 3 tracks that have breaks in them throughtout a 2-3hr set 1 at the start to introduce himself and one at the end .. and one when he thinks it's required .) it's a tried and tested formula going back to when i was going to the hacienda and rennaisance in the early 90's dj keoki did it for u guys in the states over there .. something different don't mean it's better . breaks in tracks have always been there but it takes a special track to pull them off to slap them into bogstandard tracks and expect ppl to enjoy them is abusing breaks not cherishing them . and for a dj to think he can kock off beats and try and show his prowess at scratching on what is supposed to b a progressive night FUCKS ME OFF BIG TIME
