Very nice. I wish I had a backyard big enough to do something like that.

I have half an acre... I need to turn it into one huge pond so I don't spend 2 hours mowing it each week

^^^ I bought mine on Ebay for 360 new in the box. Almost the same cost as a normal mower.

does it ever fuck up? how easy is it to use? how much "learning" time does it require? does it work on yards with obstacles/bumps?

If your yard is pretty much flat it works amazingly. Bumps are no big deal, it has sensors in the bumpers for obstacles (trees etc). You really don't have to teach it. It works by pegging a wire into the ground around the perimeter which attaches to a small device (think invisible dog fences). The hardest part is getting the wire down since you have to make adjustments to get it tuned it for you yard. I have a severly hilled yard so I've made my own customizations (opened it up and added 3 lbs) so it wouldn't pop wheelies. Also kid/animal friendly, if its nose comes off the ground the blades turn off immediately (3 blades). I talked to people who owned one on yahoo groups before I bought one, everyone has been happy with them.

As far as it fucking up... it wouldn't have been recommended on my yard because of the steep grade, so the few problems I have had have been my own fault. Even so I've almost got it to where it runs perfectly. I just have to make some adjustments to the wire location by an inch or so. I was in a hurry to get it running and never took the time to perfect it initially and now I'm in the middle of painting my house so that's been on hold.

Ease of use... 'drive' it out there with the controller, hit on on the perimeter switch and press go on the top of the mower. That's pretty much it. When its done I come back and drive it back onto my garage and plug it into the charger.

The only downside (for me) is that everyone driving by stops and watches it for a bit or if I'm out there they ask me all sorts of questions. After a while it gets annoying. :?

my yard's defo flat... just don't trust/believe in robots

here's an un-mowed picture of it when I moved in 3 months ago... it's very flat, but the grass grows way too thick.

                        Re: Tonight I got very.....

^^^ Yeah that would be no problem at all. It's also height adjustable so it handles tall grass fairly well too. I don't know if you can tell in the picture below (its the only one I have right now at work) but if you look at the bottom of the slider door then compare where the bottom of the fence corner you can get an idea of the slope in my backyard. Also the slope begins like 5 feet back from the fence rather than gradually from the patio.

You should check out yahoo groups for robomower(?) there's some videos there. BTW I edited the comment above your last one while you were typing it. I added more information that might be useful.

                          thats awesome!

we built a retaining wall and planted all sorts of nice flowers, and put rocks, water blah blah.

one of the puppies ruined all the plants.

now all we have left is a fucking nonsense wall. what a waste.
