    a message to cindy sheehan

listen. i realize your son had the most unfortunate event. it truly is a shame that this world has to be like it is.

however, when he joined the army, he took upon the burden that he would have to go into combat blindly, taking the orders without question. i did. my brother has just started. the US army, unfortunetly is a police force that wears a bullseye on its back.

please do not disgrace the fact that your son died in service to the USA. he knew full well what he was into, and nowaydays, you have plenty of time(4 months) to back out before you are punished as deserter. you should give up your false quest against our leadership because you had the circumstance you do. my family, as well as thousands of others have had to cope with the fact that we might die in combat. we respect your son and hold him in higher esteem than any other US citizen. you cannot detract from what your son, my brother, myself and thousands of others have gave thier lives for. for shame on you. for shame. it was HIS choice, HIS decision. HIS actions. if anything realisze that you hate what YOUR SON did. not the higherarchy of the military chose. he could have ran. he could have deserted. he could have never joined.

its unfortunate that the media today has lead us to belive that it all falls on the hands of G. Bush, B. clinton, R.reagan. it doesnt. its on the few of us who have the guts to go out and risk it all for something greater. no matter what you think of it.

"All wars are extensions of politics."

I don't necessarily agree with what she is doing, but I do think her reaction is understandable considering not only the fact that she is now a mother with a dead son, but that he was killed in a war that was started because of less than honest/urgent reasons. I've stated my position on the war before (in ranting fashion), so I won't get into it here.

If her son was fighting in a war that was being waged against someone who actually was attacking us or preparing to, I would tell her to shut the fuck up. However, in this situation, the president has certainly gotten some slack, so I think she should at least be able to do this.

I do agree with you 100% about dying in combat being an unfortunate "occupational hazard" that should be expected, that those who have served and are serving are among the most noble there are, and that Cindy Sheehan certainly isn't doing justice for them. However, I don't think the president should have a "Get Out of Jail Free" card, because he ultimately made the decision to send 150,000 of America's finest to Iraq.

You can't have manslaughter without laughter.

"Son," he said without preamble, "never trust a man who doesn't drink because he's probably a self-righteous sort, a man who thinks he knows right from wrong all the time. Some of them are good men, but in the name of goodness, they cause most of the suffering in the world. They're the judges, the meddlers. And, son, never trust a man who drinks but refuses to get drunk. They're usually afraid of something deep down inside, either that they're a coward or a fool or mean and violent. You can't trust a man who's afraid of himself. But sometimes, son, you can trust a man who occasionally kneels before a toilet. The chances are that he is learning something about humility and his natural human foolishness, about how to survive himself. It's damned hard for a man to take himself too seriously when he's heaving his guts into a dirty toilet bowl."

they tell you right off the bat in training.

you have 4 months to decide. (1 year if in an academy)

it is the military. you must deal with the fact that weapons are used.

maybe she should be att the UN door begging for them to put pressure on the nations and peoples who do these things.

Is this the same UN who you are constantly making jokes about? The same UN that you have called pussies, and irrelevant?

It is the right of every American to dissent and protest. Period. Dont like it? Get out.

If Casey Sheehan had died in Afghanistan I would say that you are right about this issue. However, since he died in AN ILLEGAL WAR of aggression, I would say that she has every right to be pissed.

Military command structure assumes that you are being told the truth by your commanders.

When you are sent into war ON A LIE, it changes things a bit.

Re: a message to cindy sheehan

the sad thing is that we all know its a lie, we do, either he was lied to or he and the cabinet created the war, but we did give saddam and his entire military over 6 months to load the materials up (btw, we have found base materials and supplies that would be used to create biological weapons, we did.) and ship the stuff off to iran, pakistan, saudi, etc. its not like we went in overnight. all those years saddam hid things from hands blix and fought against the inspectors. hmmmm, what was he hiding??? how did he kill 300k people? too many questions that will not be answered.

but that is a different issue. we sign up for the military to OBEY orders, no matter where they come from on the chain of command, whether from your direct CO or the pres himself. you volunteer to do what they want.

we did the same thing thing, albeit on a lessor scale, in bosnia.we sent in our military to stop a man who was killing people, stockpiling weapons and other choice crimes.

lets not bring in issues other than the fact that her problem should be with her son, not the gov't. he volunteered, he stayed. he knew full well what could have happened.

Thru my lessons on the UN of this i've made somewhat of a swing on the war: hate how Bush got to do it, but Saddam had to have is arse kicked anyway. On the one hand Bush is responsible for a war started over lies, on the other hand the kid could've indeed opted out, but he didn't.

There is something called 'being capable of making your own decisions'. The kid made his decision, period. Cindy, go home, mourn over your son but don't act as if he was not capable of thinking for himself. That is an insult to your son, to say the least.

LMAO, I know how you think about the UN, and you know how I think of them. Have a thick book now: UN Security Council: from the cold war to the 21st century (David M Malone). It contains chapters by different writers on a lot of cases, as well as general subjects. Very interesting, and it gives you a look behind the screens of the politics. It also shows you how the UN has been successfull, as well as it brings it's faults to light. It questions the effectivity, but on the other hand shows you what the difficulties are in such a large political body.

Recommended read for UN-haters that need an unbiased view of it. ;-)

What dont you get? Pretty simple.

If you join the armed forces to protect the country, great.

If you joined the armed forces to protect the country, but instead you are forced to fight the oil wars, not great.

These troops, all of them, have every reason to be pissed at the politicians who started this godforsaken war- on a pack of lies.

Just because they joined, does not mean that they can be used for illegal wars.

your complete inability to look things up that you dont like is apparent.

the US military's 4 main branches, under the constitution of the US are not allowed to operate on domestic soil in any capacity outside of training. the army, navy, marines and airforce only operate outside of the US. we have the national guard to operate on this soil. the onlytime you will ever see the ARMY or marines operate here is under one of two circumstances.
                              1. martial law, which hasnt existed since the 1800's.
                              2. for things like the RNC and DNC where it isnt feasible to have the NG troops travel and setup across the country when there is a division of another branch based closer. (its a logistics thing that they try to make easier.) the folks you see in Penn Station and in DC, are, for the most part NG units unless there is a need for a specific force, like hazmat or intel.

you join the military to fight abraod.

you know your shit when it comes to your own opinion, and you sure know how to google search stats, but you need to do more research on the shit you disagree with. and im on your side more often than not. anyone can take mike moore or tucker carlson or bill oreilly or anne coultier for the truth, but it doesnt mean they are right.
