I have seen Tenaglia many times and Warren as well. I have also seen Burridge, Lawler, Howells, Three, Jimmy van M, and many others.

I take exception to you saying that my (or anybody else's choices for that matter) are due to the lack of breadth of knowledge and experience. Ironically, you are accusing people of making assumptions about DJ's, yet are making assumptions about their tastes.

well look at it from my point of view. everyone that has posted a list on this thread, has named 5 djs of almost IDENTICAL style. luke fair desyn sasha digweed....on the same list? i'm not saying anything bad about the djs themselves, it's that everyones list is the exact same on this board. theres been no variety, nobody who likes prog would mention a tech house dj, or a deep house dj, or even a hard techno dj. regardless of there overall talent. a lot of people on this board live in smaller cities that the real top jocks never visit. you have to live in one of like 5 places to see a hawtin or tenaglia, so if you've never seen people who changed the face of the scene forever, hwo do you put a nick warren ahead of that? oh well he did do a GU with that melodic prog that nobody has ever heard before. oh wait, that shits on its way out.

i'm sure people who have posted lists of almost identical styles, are the same guys who would laugh at the tranceaddicts for voting tiesto avb pvd 1, 2, and 3. it's not ANY different. again, thats why the list is worthless. people put personal musical preference over the fact that someone else may be more talented. oh i like nick warrens bspf so i'll put him ahead of someone who's completly revolutionized djing for the past 2 decades.

I agree with you completely on what you're saying, but to be fair to everyone here is how the DJMag site reads:

"Rank the DJs who've impressed you the most over the last year"

So since most of us aren't inherently rich and able to travel the world-over to form an accurate assessment of every DJ in the world, we have to include compilations, sets we've downloaded, and our own musical preference(s) in our choices. Ergo the reason that this thing is full of shit. I don't think that any of us would debate that, but the truth is that some people really enjoy compiling lists and rankings so let's let them have their fun.

                Re: top 100 dj

i hear you ska. when someone comes on listing 5 almost identical djs, you've got to wonder is it the dj himself, or is it the music he played. because in that case, it should be the producers getting the credit instead.

i guess its the fact that the list has potential for being fun and exciting. but this actually affects dj's salaries and the gigs they can get. thats why i almost take offense when people come on and mindlessly list dj's that have been in there ipod for the last week and a half, while other djs who may be more deserving, don't get the recognition or even perhaps the monitary compensation they deserve. but evidently i just see this 'contest' in an entirely different light then most people.

                        Exactamundo.

That was why chose that top 3.

If we?re talking about all tyme faves, only Sasha would make my top 5...but where was Moshic this year, for example? Oscar Mulero is a top Spanish techno DJ who I love, but he doesn?t play much outside Spain, so I wouldn?t say he?s had a huge impact this year either...

And is this a DJ or Producer poll? If we were talking about producers, I?d stick Alter Ego, Tiefschwarz or Mylo in there instead, probably, but for example, Mylo himself says his own DJ skills are "erratic at best"...

This isn?t exactly a presidential election, so I say again, my criteria were my current tastes, as in "2004/2005"

i think the only way to realy judge who is "the" top dj is by every one selecting who they think are the best dj's in each genre
                              maybe summat like
                              rog
                              :breaks
                              n B
                              :techno
                              :electro minimal
                              :lounge/chill
                              :experimental
prob a few other genres but they ain't worth mentioning
