Building your own stereo

Do any of you happen to build your own kits? I am interested in building my own amplifier - vacuum tubes and all.

Anyone know of a good place to start? Online resources, or books would be a great start.

Also, any advice or insight based on your own experience?

i've thought about doing that a few times. the sheer depth to which you can go is surreal.
