HOB has got to be one of the worse venues for Dance music...its great for live music but sux for djs....I really think that opening dj ruins the vibe....for me at least... seems like the crowd is clueless as well. That will be the last time I go there for an electronic show....
HOB is by far the worst venue on the planet. The security is extra tight, the bar tenders suck, and it is a fashion contest with a bunch of breakers and 50yr old tourists on the dance floor. Nobody who attends SIN is there for the music, the only exception is when someone like Luke is scheduled and the true fans come out. The usual crowd is Jimmy Joslin, Sandy, Magic Mike, Icey, and more often book a major trance DJ. However if you have the free SIN pass, admission should always be free on Sundays unless you didn't know. And free drinks 'till midnight for the ladies. But the vibe and the atmosphere suck.JourneyDeep .into the soundComment

Been loving Luke lately, or actually since the first set I heard from him. He has yet to let me down, OS.3 was good as well.

calling him a dj would be a misnomer.. IMO
It seems to me i get misinterpreted alot...I love luke and his music. He is one of my favorite djs around..I guess i was just expecting more from my previous experiance with him. Thats all i was saying...
Considering the circumsstances with travels, the venue/crowd/vibe ect ect ect....it is clear why i felt the way i did. It was exactly the same for Danny H at HOB as well.
Id like to plan a trip to toronto to see him in his hometown....where i am sure he just rips it apart.....Comment

Re: Luke Fair last night in Orlando
luke played really well when he was in jacksonville. albeit, the venue was about the 1/4 of the size of hob and the dj area was much smaller as well.
as mentioned prior, hob is a great space for live acts..infusion rocked the phuck out of the place when they played....they were really really good despite all the drama trying to locate a sampler for them and the power going out.
however, as shy as luke is, playing at the hob was probably torture for him. he rarely looks up as he's mixing and putting up two turntables and a mixer on that huge stage and expect to play for people who are already piss drunk at 1am is quite a task.
to compare the two, infusion's sound fits right into the hob..especially at 1am. hello, we're in orlando....the home of florida breaks...jimmy opened..infusion plays break-ish type of tunes....big booming basslines..it fits into that particular venue.
luke's an awesome dj...wish he would have played a smaller venue instead of hob. i think he needs dancers like jimmy and the girls can have LUKE FAIR written on their booty's like jimmy's dancers have.Comment

H.O.B. atmosphere reminds me of when UnoMe & I went to see James Zabiela in Gainsville- just Not the right crowd - too used to breaky stuff that only those of us there for the Music being played - could TRULY enjoy!
