                            I keep reading about headphones under or around 100 quid and Grado gets the best reviews..

                                ^^^ It's the open back sound I bought a pair of the SR 80e 's when I couldn't buy buy a a pair of IGrado, discontinued , to replace the ones that didn't make it through Manchester airport last year: I needed to get new ear pads for my SR125s so bought the same for my the SR80s. The sound provement was really really noticable.

                                        I have a pair of Grado's myself. Definitely great headphones and a reason why I recommended them. Specifically, I would get a Alessandro model. http://alessandro-products.com/headphones-2/ I have a MS1 2009 version ($109). Great out of the box and also good thing about Grado is highly customizable in the future if you want to change the headband, earpads, gimbals, rod blocks, or the cups to wood.
