and to make things worse, the levies in new orleans are said to have broken today, flooding most of the area.

and also, they are looking for anyone with electrical, carpentry, plumbing, metalworking, and heavy equipment experience to call your local offices to see if you can help to simply stop the flooding and bring back the needed utilities to the neccessary areas.

Hopefully people will learn one thing from this ... Ya should try to get the hell outta way of CAT-4 hurricane and try not to take any chances. This is just so sad, seeing people's houses being destroyed, all their belonging washed away in ruins.
I feel mad and sad for the people who stayed behind thinking its not a big deal to stay behind and face CAT-4 hurricane. I have been in a hurricane, and its not a joke.

at least there isn't as much death and disease as last year's tsunami. not that we desperately need the help, but i wonder how long it'll take before other countries start donating time, materials, and money to us. after the tsunami relief bashing last year I'm guessing we won't see much.

that makes me sick. hundreds of thousands of people have lost their homes, and all these fucks can think about is stealing jewelry. I'd lock the fuckers up in a cell regardless... even if it IS submerged 20 feet in water

some of those people didnt have a way to get out of town. new orleans isnt exactly a city of riches. there's a lot of poverty there. some of those folks had no choice but to stay and ride it out. there's reports of people stuck in their attics cos their house is flooded with 10 feet of water. fucking awful!

can anyone find some info about how to donate. ie: water, clothes, canned foods, etc....

Exactly. Many don't have televisions and even more are without cars. The people of the city itself rely on public transportation and walking to get around so how were they to drive away?
