    Re: Hurricane Katrina Damage

^^^^ at this point, what does he have to lose? his city is in shambles to say the least. I have a lot of respect for this bloke, and hopefully he gets the praise he deserves. Instead of pussy footing around trying to be politcally correct, he is telling it like it is.

there's a plane with soldiers trained for situations like this, and volunteers from 2 major hospitals waiting for the ok from your government so they can fly over there and help out. Belgium is trying to do it's part, local news gave us info on how to donate. I'll do my part after the weekend.
my heart go's out to all the people there. i hope things get organized soon

          Re: Hurricane Katrina Damage

Like someone said earlier, I'm getting the impression that resources are spread too thin to deal with a natural disaster this large. Many of the National Guard have been sent to Iraq because of lack of troops. If this is true, we certainly won't get this admission from the administration.

The good thing is that today the government finally converged on New Orleans with troops, food, water, etc. Bush himself called the relief efforts this morning unacceptable. I'm thinking that the newschannels and media put a lot of pressure on Bush to lead better in this crisis.

                  Re: Hurricane Katrina Damage

basically he said that the response wasn't quick because most of the people affected were black.

he also questioned why bush sr & clinton were chosen to lead the fund raising and no black leader was included.

jesse jackson has done alot of good things but he tends to be a conspiracy theorist.

There are various way to help support all of the urgent humanitarian needs of the American Red Cross. Gifts of all kinds are accepted with gratitude.

~$97M USD pledged by various companies listed on that page. my company isn't listed, so it's definitely not a definitive list. I wonder how much money they have raised for this... GE has contributed $18M alone, so that list plus my company's contribution makes at least $115M that we know of raised by the Red Cross alone in the past few days

Yeah, I saw it. But really...what is he doing that he doesn't always do?? The guy's only purpose in life is to be "outraged" at anything that HE can construe as racial inequality. Like if there was a city full of white people that water would only be 5 feet deep, instead of 20. He has to keep his name in the public eye somehow right?? What better time than now??

EXACTLY! thanking god for sparing you is like saying the people that lost family members should cursing him for killing them.
what the fuck, just forget about religion for a minute sort yourself and thank yourself for having the brains to evacuate your house.

as these busses sit submerged in flood waters, you have to wonder why the mayor of new orleans decided NOT to evacuate his citizens with these, Once, perfectly functioning busses. now there are nearly 300 completely useless busses.
(keep in mind this is just one shot of the lot full of busses. there are a shit load more.
