    Re: Hurricane Katrina Damage

i kinda blocked out all reports of the storm on monday then find tues after work, how bad off the coast & somewhat more specifically NOLA is fucked. i had no idea things would be as bad. its a shame cause the buildings, city, tourists spots, & traditions are so rich & unique, that the nola i once visited on several occassions may be no more.

Got word my father is okay, boat is just off the coast of Houston: he did have some heavy weather on the way tho, even lossing contact with his bed when trying to sleep at times because of the rough seas. Too bad he just won't be able to send any medicaments simply because of the fucked up bureaucratic rulz and offshore safety regulations. Sorry y'all out there...On a bout housing 700 people he usually has a shitload to spare when necessary.

I'm broke myself, but will try to donate something nonetheless...if many give a little it can still be a lot in the end huh?

my company just donated $1M to the Red Cross, and all employees are raising funds on friday which the company will match dollar-for-dollar. With 300,000 employees, I'm guessing it'll jump up to a good $3M if everyone donates 5 bucks.

What's bad now in New Orleans is that the looting is turning more violent. There's reports of men with assault rifles robbing people. The police are having a hard time controlling the crowd. With the summer heat, no food, no water, etc. then it could get worse.

Would someone please tell these people being interviewed to stop thanking God and Jesus Christ? I mean for shit's sake, what do you they think? Did God "choose" to spare them and let the other people die? Fuck that shit. Just be thankful that you're lucky you're alive.

estimates are now at a loss of 90 billion dollars. that will definitely plunge this country into another recession. the economy was fragile as is. this will start to burst economic bubbles.

recontruction efforts usually have positive effects on jobs. more need, more employed. gonna have a huge rise of construction related jobs. the ppl who are gonna get killed are the re-assurance(the ones who insure the insurance) companies, who usually are backed by the world bank.

the one thing that is going to happen for sure is a huge change in how insurance policies are structured. there are gonna be a million lawsuits out there in the upcoming months when the insurance companies say this was ""flood related"" rather than ""hurricane related"". (no flood insurance down there).

either way, take a trip over to www.redcross.org or second harvest's website and do the right thing, because the international community's silence is deafening. just remember that. :?

You got it all wrong guys...THE ONLY WAY I'm comparing the two is that in both cases there is/was an undeterminable amount of dead that is only going to grow and grow. That's it.

seriously i thought mike mulville was a nice guy, but now i wish disease upon his children. and chris's parents couldnt get cancer quick enough. humanity is humanity, no matter who leads the region they live in. do we not have to feel bad for the victims of middle eastern violence b/c thier leadership wants to lock women in the home and never let them out? gah, now it is really time for the US to close all foreign bases and cut epxport and imports. its disturbing. fuck em.
