Two full listens through now and I found the mix to be quite enjoyable. I am uber-biased obviously. The more of these Live In sessions I can get the better!
I really like it. Its perfect in all the right ways...bangs at the right pace and manages to sound old school and futuristic fresh at the same time.
Very much liking his sounds the last couple of years more than ever. This easily is one of my favorite of the Live In series, if not the best of them. 5 hours breezes by, amazing stuff really
I'm only half way through, but I love the first 2 CDs. CD2 in particular has been great night time driving music. This is the first Live In mix that reminds me a little of his GU mixes. Seems to have a similar kind of vibe, and kind of thing he'd be putting together if that series was still running (other than the odd release every 3 years).
^^^ Agreed, much more progreesive sounding than alot of his other Live In sets. Maybe all those bunker sets made him reevaluate some sounds. Not that it isnt Modern Digweed, with the tech house sprinkled in. But I feel the vibe was quite throwback in a lot of ways while still being fresh and forward thinking in the way Digweed is known for.
I do like that its the entire set too, 5 hours/4cds is about perfect length (although I no problem at all with 9cd Montreal).
I love it, its his best released cd in years. Makes me happy that 22+ years after first hearing him hes still the fuckin man!
+1 to everything you just said dude -- best discs from diggers in long time and full of warmth and emotion and he will always remain the GOAT and this shows why, just a class act
Finished listening to this now. Glad I waited until I had time to listen to it properly rather than just chucking it on as background music. I've liked all the Live Ins, Quattros, Structures etc, but this is hands down his best Mix CD set in years. First one I can remember since GU019 where I've just wanted to play it through again straight away (sadly it will have to wait as I have a backlog of stuff to listen to, including all those Heavenly Remixes CDs that John recently championed on Transitions).
Absolutely love it. Definitely picking up the Bandcamp version for the unmixed tracks as there are some amazing tunes in there. Highly recommended if anyone reading this hasn't picked it up yet.
My only complaint is the packaging. It looks as nice as always, but it's quite difficult to open the box to get the CDs out without any kind of cutout on any of the sides. If you're opening it a lot for multiple replays I can see it getting damaged quite easily when trying to wiggle it loose to open it.
I understand this is unpopular opinion but this mix is really nothing special for me. Most tracks are just fillers nothing more. One-two stand out tracks like Petar's, remix for Lars' classic Diabla, Soel's and thats all. Will try to listen again but really not much hope here.
