Kicking off Septembers festivities will be a 2 hour show with Australias hottest new talent, Dopamine - and a blinding set from the UK duo Strategy & Luke Vex.
::DOPAMINE::
Dopamine is a chemical naturally produced in the body.
Dopamine is commonly associated with the 'pleasure system' of the brain.
Dopamine is critical to the way the brain controls our movements.
With 10 years experience behind the decks and a history of churning out big
techno tracks, the progression to breaks has seen Matt bringing fresh and
exciting elements to the genre. Obsession set in and for 3 years he locked
himself away honing his craft and building his home studio - like a mad
scientist in his lair. Needless to say, for a Sydney boy he looks pale and
sickly as a result of this studio hermit behaviour.
With his first release 'Hold You' on Thursday Club Records (TCR),
dopamine's history with electro and techno is hammered home for a solid and
relentless 7 minutes of electro/tech influenced breakbeat badness. When
that bass kicks in you know this is no ordinary dancefloor monster. It's
currently being caned by Rennie Pilgrem, Plump DJs, Clive Morley, Stanton
Warriors, High Eight, POD, Atomic Hooligan and Jay Cunning so you know it's
huge.
Dopamine now has a new home away from home with Title Fight Records run by
Klaus Heavyweight Hill. Title Fight allows Matt to really explore the
tougher side of breaks whilst keeping his trademark electro funk style
intact. Expect even bigger things from dopamine and the rest of the awesome
Title Fight crew in the immediate future.
::STRATEGY & LUKE VEX::
Luke Vex (aka Luke Heaton, 24) fell in love with the breakbeat sound after graduating from drum + bass and hip hop to the twisted frequencies and crunchy drums of Tipper and Fuel Records. Strategy (aka James Marcy, 24) went along a slightly different path, going from old skool ?ardcore to big beat with a hefty dose of American punk rock and Native Tongues era hip hop thrown in for good measure. After meeting towards the end of 2004 through breakbeat site www.nuskoolbreaks.co.uk, they decided to pool resources and become a dynamic duo. Since then they?ve become increasingly involved with the breakbeat scene in the North West, holding a warm-up residency at the best breaks night in the world (Fuse @ the Roadhouse, Manchester), writing for www.nuskoolbreaks.co.uk (winner of best site at this year's Breakspoll awards), hosting an internet radio show on the same site every Wednesday that is growing steadily in popularity and getting DJ bookings across the country.
