Looks fucking cool, but surely the major advantage of solidstate over a disk drive should be battery life? 14 hours for the Nano - that is shite. My 2 year old iriver lasts 30 hours. Wasted oppurtunity in my opinion, I'd have ordered one already if it was longer.

The Wall Street Journal reviewed the nano and said battery life exceeded Apple's claims. Wow, that's a first!

It probably gets 16-18 hours depending on settings, etc.

So, it's not that bad. 30 hours is pretty amazing though. But, the nano is pretty well-executed, so I wouldn't bee too bothered by the battery lifespan.

I still wish they would put a damn power button on it though. It's pretty annoying to have to hold down on the click wheel for 5 seconds. And then switch into hold mode. I think that's REALLY LAME.

I like it alot, if I was currently in the market for an MP3 this would be the one. Of course by the time I really am looking for a new MP3, this will be an outdated piece of shit.

Well also for about $50 more you can buy a 20 gig Ipod. I don't understand the thinking of todays market. Wouldn't you rather pay $50 more and get a hell of a lot more for your money?

More is more, but less is more too....

The tradeoff is capacity vs physical size, we all have different ideas of the ideal balance, and more options makes for better choices.

Plus as they develop these flash players, there will be larger capacity for less money, eventually HD players may become obsolete. Flash certainly have an advantage in battery life due to the few moving parts, and should be more reliable too.

Isn't there other players with roughly the same size? Yeah, you get that ITunes and style/fad factor advantage of the IPod, but it isn't worth it.

BTW - the headphone jack I heard isn't standard size, so you will need either an adapter or a new set of headphones, or just to use the Apple supplied ones - DOH! ---- edit - I could be wrong on this, but that's what I heard. Apple's site seems to contradict it though.

As the flash players get more and more know, they might become cheaper. But it all boils down to a company's greed. And Apple is one of the most greedy computer companies out there. I understand that their products are really well made and all that. But they really try to gouge their customers on pricing.
