"Processor: 6.8GHZ CPU (AtomChip? Quantum? II processor / System Compliance: Two Operating Systems with Voice Command (Microsoft? Windows? XP Professional and Linux?) / Memory: 1TB Quantum-Optical non-volatile RAM (NvIOpSRAM-SODIMM 200-pin) / Storage: 2TB non-volatile Quantum RAM (NvIOpRAM-ATA IDE)"

Pretty fast. Would like to test drive this thing and see how it holds up. Seems likes some of their numbers are pushed a little. Pretty cool though.

Is this thing for real? how could they develop this type of chip technology without an R&D budget like Intel?

it's not like you can create chips in the garage with some old ass soldering gun.

It does almost seem too good to be true, but it is way too expensive for me to find out first hand..

                    Its obviously fake.

Since when does xp address 1TB of RAM?

                        ^^ I agree it's fake.

I really don't think some type of start-up can develop something like this...

too much $ for R&D let alone fabrication equipment.

Also, how hot would that chip run? especially in a laptop....

This is using completely different technologies than the standard electron/ wafer setups that we seen until now. Its using some sort of solar cell with memory. It would be much cheaper to produce than whats needed for current wafer style chips. Its also using light for bits rather than electrons which as you probably already know moves much faster. Regarding heat of the chip, I suspect that since its not using electron switching and instead a laser beam its going to run much cooler. Its also holographic in terms of memory so, as the article states, they can stack bits which explains the dramatic increase in memory (3D bit storage, without additional wafers)..

I don't doubt that its real for one second.

                          :Crack Up:
Umm, actually since this is a 64bit chip and would mostly likely be running the 64bit ver. of XP, this would increase the maximum RAM limit to 16TB. Actually the limitation is only caused by the address bus on the processor, since most of the processors that we have been using on 32 bit systems only had a 32 bit bus we have been limited to 4GB limit.

The address bus is the set of wire traces that is used to identify which address in memory the CPU is accessing. The number of wire traces in the address bus limits the maximum amount of RAM which the CPU can address. CPU Address Bus Sizes CPU Address Bus Size 8086 20 bit 8088 20

^ Exactly...why aren't they on the cover of PC World?

Slashdot has a posting of this and they're saying it's bullshit...

What gets me in how cheesy the Atom Chip website is. They can develop some alien technology type of chip but can't build a decent website
