i also did some researching ... found a few sites that discredit and credit atom chips. i have my doubts. it looks good on paper, but i can imagine that there would be some heat issues. there is a reason apple G5 laptops do not exsist ... they melt everything. with a clock speed of 6+ plus were are talking some major heat. A laptop would not do ... you would need at least a desktop ... with half of it being dedicated to cooling.

I'm tired of arguing this especially when people don't put the facts together. The tell tale sign will be CES 2006 conf in January.

A couple points though:

This is not actually quantam computing, its just a name they've given to their product as did one of the HD makers did in the early 90's (Quantam fireball was the name IIRC). Quantam computing uses qubits which are able to hold multiple states. If you guys can mistake this for quantam computing, I don't think your judgements can really be take seriously. Again take a look at the CES 2005 notebook they presented. Even CES notes there was no harddrive, what was that, magic? If this was a hoax I don't think you would see their booths reserved at the 2006 conf.

Asdf- they would generate major heat if their processor was using electron switching processors that we do today. But as they claim, its based on switching light hence, the lower electrical usage, faster speeds, and reduced heat. I know for a fact that they are not the only ones though most have been looking into using leds rather than lasers.

the argument isn't about the theoretical .. this is about common sense . go on www.geek.com these guys surf the magazines and manufacturers constantly and there is nothing on there that comes close to the atomchip notebook . one day comps like that will be available to us all but not for a decade or so. all uve seen in way of proof is hilarious pics / a piss funny video and a booking on a ces stand .. this is a con to gain money from investors . do u honestly think some company no one has ever heard of has somehow leapfrogged pentium/amd/sony/hewlitt packard and nasa on inventing a super proccessor and also created the fastest and most compact ram eva invented .. with fuckall money and the help of universities no-one has eva heard of also try finding an address/ telephone number or a supplier of these comps

Just bc they got a booth at CES doesn't mean they are legit. There was plenty of vaporware companies back in the bubble that only had a concept/blueprint vs. an actual product.

The bottom line factor to all this ==> if they had a legit product, they would of received some type of press. Also, venture captialist would of poured truckloads of money to develop this product to fruition. It appears that this didn't happen.

Here's a good rule of thumb as to whether or not a company is legit. If you wanted to purchase something from their site, would you be comfortable plugging in your creditcard number?

It's pretty fucking misleading though when they refer to the processor as the quantum processor!
