    CDR burning question .....

i think I need to repost since the move .....

question on CDR's.... does the brand of CDR matter in terms of quality- what do you people use for blankd CDR's. the reason I ask is that lately I have had a problem with scratchy sound and skipping in my car trunk player with the CDR's that I have been burning. I use EAC and have a nice computer (all other programs are off when burning)

Does the speed at whick one burns matter? 3x better than 48 times? I have heard that it doesnt matter.

Do CDR's simply have trouble tracking in older car cd trunck players? I( I burn of course as regular WAV not MP3)

    Any help appreciated!!!!

a good cdr for audio is Sony or HP...without having to spend a lot of money.

The thing is that some car cd player lenses need to be recalibrated/overthrust in order to adjust the reading capabilitys, since they are used to playing original cds.

For example, some alpine devices are known to have LIFETIME problems as cdr reading regards. I own one, and it needs to be continuously recalibrated

i heard that the cd writing speed is essential... some older players don't read cds burned in high speeds... anyway... i always write my audio cds in 8X

I've just encountered the same problem this morning. I normally burn my cd's at whatever speed the software can with no problems until this morning.

The cd I used was a verbatim, and the way I understand it they are supposed to be good quality? and I usually use princo which don't have such a good rating and never had an issue :?

Generally I have found that blue cds are worse than silver cds. so look at the recordering side and if it's blue (i mean like a really dark blue) dont get it.

I'll go along with this. I tend to buy cd's that say on them they are for audio. I'd rather be safe, than hand out a bunch of dodgy cd's. Memorex is my favourite, the ones that are either silver on top or white with purple writing. Sorry I cant be more specific about the actual type they are. I also burn at slower speeds, just seems to make sense to me that this will alleviate any problems. call me superstitious.. but thats just my 2 pence.

I use whatever's on sale too and have never had a problem. Plus, if something does happen to mess up, they're cheap and easy to replace. Although, I don't really give out promo's or whatever so it's just for me and a few friends, so the quality of the cd doesn't matter too much.
