    The Dj's Dream HERNAN CATTANEO

    Decoded book of the month.

At last in ENGLISH . It's been available for quite a while in Spanish. I've read it twice already, and will definitely be going back again in case I missed anything.

Re: The Dj's Dream HERNAN CATTANEO

My Book review. If anyone is interested. Alicia at Facebook page Hooked on Hernan Cattaneo asked if I would like to write one. Dumb question .

A lot of what we read he has told us over the years , but seeing it all here and in the right context it is a revelation. It's all brought into focus. I'm sure many of the people who will read this book will find events and clubs they went to, so it is a history for many of us as well. But all through Hernan's eyes.

7 years old and he never wavered in what he truly wanted to be . Not just in music, it was his dream to be able to share that music with as many of us as possible. And has he ever done that !! Hundreds of thousands of us around the world. !! For him it wasn't merely a dream, it was a reality that just hadn't happened yet. But it was surely going to happen! For him it was just a straight line from there to here and we got to go along for the ride. Not only in this book but also in real life at various times. We also get to hear about the many amazing people with whom he shared his musical journeys.

I particularly love the part where he met Jackie. And the years long honeymoon trip. I was lucky enough to be at one of the events Jackie came to in Australia in what was then almost a country town called Geelong. It's grown quite a bit since then . And I loved reading about his gorgeous girls. There are pics Have to say I got many warm and fuzzy feelings while reading this book . Hahaha!

It is also a wonderful history of the music we love. Reading the music for the times scattered throughout the book was an absolute joy ! So much music that we shared long before I knew he existed. Music that wasn't electronic dance music yet My journey into Electronic music was probably though Tangerine Dream . When I become aware of electronic DANCE music it was just mind blowing. !!

Mostly It is a fabulous read into the person we believe we know so well. And in some ways we do. It reinforces all the lovely things so many of us say about him. Although quite weirdly he sometimes doesn't believe us, Hahaha!! He will tell you it is all hard work and luck, maybe a little bit of talent. And it took him years to admit even that little bit of talent There certainly is hard work ! And luck , but that luck comes mainly from the person he is, the best people are drawn to him. They see his vision. Deny it or not he is definitely incredibly talented. We all see that . How can someone who lives and breathes music and who pulled together a totally diverse group of musicians and people to make that incredible event at Teatro Colon called Connected even possible ??. How can he possibly claim to not be a musician ?? Music is not just reading music or just playing a specific instrument.! Living and breathing is far more valid. !! Whoops!! my opinion there

But possibly the standout thing is that essentially he hasn't changed. Hernan just is Hernan ! Still the kid who gets goosebumps at great music, that idealist teenager who loved Frankie Knuckles, still that man who lighting struck in Tequila bar in Punte del este Still the man we saw at his last gig. Still the man who has time for fans after every show. Still the person who wants to share every note of music with us. He is possibly the most genuine person I know. This makes him and this book so very special. ! Well as well as the fabulous music he keeps giving us.

Many years ago a Melbourne DJ told me I was very lucky that my music hero was also a great person. His wasn't sadly . And mine still is I still feel very lucky

I have read this book twice so far and writing this is making me want to read it all again. haha! And I am definitely going all fan girl next weekend here in Melbourne to get my precious hard cover copy signed.

There is so much more than I have mentioned here. You really do need to read it. )))

This line is just for you !! I thought writing this might be hard, but once I started writing the words just flowed . In Fact it was hard to stop the flow Thank you Alicia. ♀️
