one of the biggest complaints (as Tom mentioned) is that we have been receiving consistent complaints from peeps stating they are overwhelmed by the sheer size of the forums and are a bit confused about where they need to go to do what.....

To be honest MN has become a bitch to navigate. It makes completely no sense to me, mostly because I'm a simpleton.

But yeah, I prefer the old way.

another thing....... is there any real preference between vBulletin vs phpBB ..... we have been considering it for a short while because of its stability and constant updates from Jelsoft but overall in addition to the security that vBulletin has over phpBB.

The only problem is we dont have add ons such as the games mod add on for vBulletin... This is just a consideration at this stage so your feedback would be invaluable

will the references in all posts to other locations on MN be broken? phpBB can handle large boards, i don't think we should migrate to vbulletin because of our 5k (1k-strong) board

well that is one of the reasons that I am considering moving to vbulletin to, the major reason now has become that the lead coder of phpBB i.e. Paul Owen has left the team. So the future of phpBB in terms of releases and security updates (for me) remains uncertain as I understand he was the heart and sould of the product.

Hence in order to secure a stable future of the site, my consideration towards vbulleting has become a tad more serious
