Day of Defeat: Source

With The Engine being in the ether for the time being I thought i would bring some useless geekyness back to the main forum once again.

I'm pre-loading Day of Defeat: Source as I type this. It looks pretty damn good from the few screenshots I've seen. I'm glad they decided to go back and totally redo it, instead of just adding the Source effects to the original game like they did Half-Life: Source. The effects are cool, but damn do those graphics hurt my eyes. I started playing it, but quit cuz I couldn't stand to look at it when I had the ultra-beautiful HL2 to stare at.

So, anyone else eager for some Nazi killing in beau-tiful Source engine splendor???

I was checking it out... I don't know if I can get into that type of game.

I need to check out that new half life chapter and lost coast though..... they need to release that shit.

Hell yeah..now that I finally beat it, the story needs to continue on. I hear there is going to be a bunch of these add-on episodes. Bring 'em...they can only get better and better. HDR lighting!!??

I've got it pre-loaded and ready to rock on Monday. I have been playing 0 games lately, but I've been waiting for this since HL2 was released. Plus, WWII shooters are always sweet. Especially Source powered ones.

ev - if you tell me how to set it up, i'll play. i used to play all the time. i don't even have half-life installed on my computer anymore since i've formatted. i used to love that game. do you have to use half-life 2 engine for this or is it still based on original half-life?

You can autodraft me out of my checking account each month.

I all but gave up Counter-Strike after the old server went away cuz I can't stand playing with those cheating fucking bastards on public servers.

Battlefield 2, F.E.A.R., Day of Defeat, Counter-Strike...that's 4 games right there that I would be playing regularly. And having a private, NO-CHEATING server to play them on would be well worth $10 a month.

Count me in. Now I just need to drum up support.

Will it be offered to members only?? Or anyone who pays??

we can start with MS members (god I LOVE saying MS now) and only reliable people will be let onto it.... and yea the more people we sign on to it, the more people we can have on it.....

so just tell me when to sign up and we'll get it going mate.... I am all here to accelerate the good times

It is the original game completely re-done in the Source engine...so yeah, you will need HL2 to play it. Valve was going to just add the Source effect to the old game, but went back and completely rebuilt the whole game from scratch with the new engine. Here's some screenshots....
