iv'e had to format my drive a few times .and start anew ( u was asking how many drives i got it now stands at four, i got one internal ,one external and a case i can put any type of drive i like into ( buying the case and a huge drive is alot cheaper than buying a normal external with smaller capacity ). get either kind of drive to back up ure music and whateva else you are scared of loosing and back everything up ureself before u send it off for fixing .. it takes years to build up music and programmes and everything else .. but it only takes a second to lose it all . for peace of mind back it up ureself .. that way u will always have a copy for if anything eva happens .

whats wrong with your PC, we might be able to tackle it on here between all of us
well, i recently found out that i had a faulty memory chip -- Corsaair XMS, it will be replaced this week.
but my windows is corrupt, and its driving me and my brother out minds, as we are both geek gamers. (im a SW freak at times, he a WoW) SW installed, but crashes a ton, WoW never even installed, dunno why. also im a pokerroom nut and there is nothing worse than crashing with a full house.
sometimes it simply shuts down without notice, just a instant shutdown, doesnt even close programmes. all of the programmes crash, either with a ""popup error message"" or sometimes just instantly shut.
its a dual AMD 64 bit machine. running windows XP home with SP i think.
constant ""the systemj has recovered from a serious error"" messages.

sounds like a bit of over overclocking (either CPU / Video Card).... I've had the exact symptoms with my PC and Far Cry.....
could also be a corrupt installation program.... if the errors have recently started, I'd recommend doing a rollback on XP .... if its from the beginning, re-install IMO

umm, first line i wrote.....
mike j fox preforming surgury is safer than me attempting to fix my computer. i would try to reinstall it and every pacemaker in north america would shut down instantaneously

indeed...sad to say, retailers like that tend to capitalize on moronic computer users with problems like yours, or similar...trust me I've seen the stories.
Overclocking would be step #1, but based on your expertise I doubt that's the case...but with all the problems you have, a System Restore is a good point to go (especially when the problems may have been recent/after you installed something), or a windows repair installation if you have a disc...worst case scenario if you have a disc as well a Windows full re-installation, which would take a little bit of re-working back around after, but you wouldn't lose anything really.
At the same time, a faulty memory chip would also probably start throwing things into havoc as you are mentioning...ps how do yo know it's faulty?
Take it from someone who's recovered from more crashes, corruptionsm and re-installations then probably anyone else known to man (I know all the re-install marketing scripts by heart now )....especially since all the "usual" solutions never would work in my case too..and it typically was some deeper-down based problem.....it's only as hard as you set your mind to.
