the corp isnt worried about the levies in that what they had built up (5 feet in parts) was still intact, but they told us that they werent permanent solutions, they have said that the city should be worried in that the river, and the other waters are well above 7 feet and rising, and will cause flooding similar to katrina.
so sad. they shouldnt put any money into anything until the levies are re built bigger tan ever to ensure that any future building is safer than what is was a month ago.

terrible... im beginning to wonder if that city will ever recover.
bus fire killed 25 evacuees earlier today too.
that bus must have been a huge fire. they said that the elderly peoples entire collection of oxygen tanks started going off like bombs. just the frame of the bus remains.
once upon a time, machines were mice, and men were lions. now that its the opposite, it's twice upon a time
The only good news about New Orleans flooding is that the people are out of the city and the mayor made the right decision not to re-open the city earlier in the week.

he made the decision to re-open, but pulled off after everyone (army general, national guard general, coast guard commander, FEMA director and pres bush) told him not to.
guy is a moron.
feel terrible for all those people, now its only getting worse.

I think it's time to reconsider the 9th ward and any other extreme low lying areas, there's got to be some adjacent higher ground that would be a more appropriate place to rebuild
bottom line is we simply can't beat nature, just hold her off for a little while
