    Buying Music

ok... on the back of reading the Desyn Masiello Balance thread where it seems so many people have gotten hold of the mix already....

who out there actually buys music these days??!!! Especially mix CDs...

I still buy an awful lot of mix CDs. Probably too much for my current finances to afford, but thats life.

I dont really buy vinyl anymore, as ive not done any DJing in over a year, but then i dont download singles either (both legally or illegally). I'd say 90% of my downloads are livesets or promo mixes.

I download 95% live sets from ms... the rest of the stuff I get is usually given to me by another person. I don't try hard to get illegal music

i buy more music than most . howeva . i dl far more than most . i believe internet access to peer to peer networks has increased the earning potential of lesser artists and dj's . who cares if it's costing those with too much money a few bucks if it's helping the up and commings to get advertised and noticed . the balanced series wouldn't of reached the ears of a tenth of the people it does without it being shared and distributed on such sites . and seeing as alot of ppl actualy buy the cd's if they like them . i can't see the big moral argument .. . if u go in a clothes shop, u try clothes on to see if u like . and if u do u buy .same o. same o

i buy if i like. simple as that. if i do not like, i do not listen. people need to eat, pay for rent, and buy birthday gifts. it is important.

I purchase most music except live sets or concerts. I feel good about it.

I'm not buying mixed CD anymore, unless they have a lot of work on (Involver alike). Most live sets and promo sets would do it for me. Then I'm more into artist albums... for some reason I still love to have the whole CD, track by track is not yet my thing.

I download a lot, but i also buy a lot. I find that the internet gives me the possibility to try before spending my hard earned cash. I own close to 2000 cds, and i keep updating with new purchases. I also buy a lot of singles from download sites.

there is a local salvage store where you can get stuff real cheap called Hudsons, i bought 7or 8 cd's for 40 bucks, and many were two disc sets like Dave Seaman, and Deep Dish, PVD, and one Sasha. im going back pretty soon to get more

                      Re: Buying Music

I spend about ?300-?500 per month on records, randomly buy CDs. Don't use any download services yet, although that might change when someone has a decent selection of mp3s (like when Juno go live with their mp3 service). The only other site that's got a decent mp3 selection is Kompakt, and their site doesn't work for me for some reason >:

Get sent a few things for free, but have told several promo companies to stop sending me records cos they're all shite. Don't use any file-sharing service at all.
