    Tailgating leads to officer's death

This happened outside of my university's home football game opener this past weekend. Details are still coming in, but it seems as though the UCF Police Officer (Mario Jenkins) was performing undercover work to prevent/stop illegal underage drinking outside of the stadium when a raucus broke out. He proceeded to pull his service weapon out and fire warning shot(s) into the air without shouting "Police!" or pulling out a badge. Upon seeing this, and Orlando Police Dept. reserve officer shot him 3 times in the back killing him.

The community, understandably, has many questions regarding this incident. First, why was the OPD not briefed on what would be taking place? Especially when it involved undercover officers. Second, why did the police officer fire warning shots in the air? What goes up, must come down and those of you that are familiar with the Citrus Bowl know how densely populated the surrounding area is. Hopefully these and others will be answered in due time when the FDLE submits its report to the State Attorney.

A party before the University of Central Florida football home opener turned deadly Saturday when an Orlando police officer shot and killed an undercover university police officer working with state agents to stop illegal drinking.

I always thought, poor undercover officers, state police will automatically shoot someone who has a gun, they won't ask questions first.
