Hey, any of you have any intel on this? Towards the beginning of 2005, I recall hearing that DirecTV had launched a new satellite and had another one or two on the way that would ultimately allow them to offer local stations in HD via satellite -- but that it would require different equipment than the current HD equipment. This was supposed to start happening in June.

Anyway, I've refrained from getting an HD Tivo box because I've been waiting for the change-over, but I haven't heard shit about it for months. Suffice it to say that I'm getting a little antsy. Anyone hear anything about this at all?

Haven't heard about this. We've got Direct TV and are fairly happy with it. Unless there is a storm. Then we hate it.

Basically they will be changing the encryption shortly so its not worth spending money on new equipment at this time.
