Lee Burridge is a crazy man, he was dancing and making funny faces. when he finished he came out into the crowd handed out promo cd's and met a lot of people.
Richie tore it up bouncing back and forth between his laptop and the decks. he also looked like he was playing with a foot pedel to control the effects.
- kick ass night, and kick ass tunes. i gotta go to bed now. enjoy the photos.
once upon a time, machines were mice, and men were lions. now that its the opposite, it's twice upon a time
I have mentioned the whole foot pedal idea to some friends and would like to try it out - Richie Hawtin just proves yet again how difficult it is to come up with totally original ideas before anyone else though
Still worth looking into anyway... I reckon it can be done with a normal guitar effects pedal
Sounds like a good time man. Burridge is coming here to KC next week... I can't wait!
if I didn't know that Richie played such kickass music, I'd think he looked like a douche.
i've seen richie play a couple times, but it was the first time since he got his 8th grader surfer blonde wave head bop thing going. it was crazy to see him take the headphones off and flip his head back to get the thing outta his face.
oh well, its his life if he can get away with it he might as well. at least he won't be confused with every other dj with a bald head and thick black frames on his face.

I've heard of a few turntablist dj's out there that play with wha wha pedals and other guitar effects. But I've never heard about it for a guy who isn't into scratching. WTG Richie for pushing the envelope again!

It?s probably a MIDI foot switch, more likely.
So I think he?s using it to trigger loops, phrases and fx. I don?t think it?s a guitar pedal.
btw, that guy in that vid...makes me feel really shitty for just going out and playing records every week. Insane.
I was talking to a buddy of mine up in detroit tonight.... he said he hasn't seen hawtin use a foot pedal for almost 7 years. Wait till sasha busts one out and reinvents music as we know it. That video is amazing btw. That guy is definitely on another level.
