Re: FAO Those Who Mix In Key
yeah i have spent some time on this site, but this does cause me some concern...
i think that sites like this make it way too easy for people with NO musical/djing talent to mix in key and without ever having to actually physically mix a record. what is the difference between someone who got their tracks keyed for them by a program, mixed their tracks for them using ableton or whatever tool they choose and just using a robot to do it?
we wonder why their are 50 gazillion DJ's these days, and then you see a site like this. personally, i think DJ's should still have to mix their own tracks and actually figure out what key the track is in, and in turn actually be a DJ!
if you make it too easy we as DJ's will quickly become extinct or in the present case exist in such a watered down scene that it is nearly impossible to rise up through the ranks...
thoughts? anyone?Comment

Re: FAO Those Who Mix In Key
I certainly can understand where you're coming from. Right now I'm taking Music Theory so I can be able to key my own records, but for now this is a great resource. Plus with more DJ's it forces you to evolve and get better at what you do. Even if I can mix in key that doesn't mean I know how to work an EFX unit etc. On a side note... Robots will never become DJ's. They lack emotion and how are you suppose to work a crowd if you can't feel them.I am no cyberwhore...

All the tools in the world will not give someone talent, and that's what makes a mix great. True artists will always rise to the top so there is no threat to them. Tools like this software just make it easier for the fans at home to play DJ in their bedroom, and that's all good too.Beats are my crack.Comment

Yeah, when I lived in Spain last year I loved saying that. Stuff like "me voy en mi puto coche" or "dame los putos cigarillos". I know it also has a different meaning even worse than that.
Funnily though, in Portugal it?s pretty normal to use the word "puto" to designate a small kid!Comment
