    first day of work

after spending a few weeks at my new place in Flagstaff i figured out that DJing is not going to pay the bills. so i went out looking for jobs, and the only callback i got was from a Subway restaurant (if you want to call it that). well let's recap the first day at the Way: first off, this lady Judy with black and blue teeth tells me within 5 minutes of meeting her that she is a recovering drug addict, and that she got divorced on thursday and the court gave her sole custody of her 4 year old child, also like 2 people called in and quit, old people suck at life, and i'm the only one that works there with some sort of college degree, possibly the only one with a GED or high school diploma, and definetly the only one with all of my teeth.....bottom line is Subway blooooooooows...

YIKES MAN! unless you see a future with Judy and crackhead i would keep searching for work. start mailing the resume to everyone everywhere. BTW what brought you to Flagstaff, and whats your degree in that you can't find a job there?

      Re: first day of work

i worked at a subway in orlando. (on colonial for anyone who knows)
within the two months i worked there.. the place had been robbed. not while the store was open but by my teenage co-worker.
i was asked to take a polygraph, and agreed, but they never called me in.
started dating this girl that got a job there, and the day we hooked up?... well none other than 09-11-01.. so you know that shit was destined for doom.
the day i went to kick her out of the apt she tried hitting me in the face with a drinking glass.
i got fired soon after. for something like "being late 2 weeks ago"
which was bullshit, they thought i had something to do with the robbery/imbezzlement (sp?)

my boss was a 40 something mother of unknown number of children raging alcoholic chain gang smoker.

i concur with the above statement, subway does suck!

keep plugging away and definitely try to stay away from the retail, food et Al stuff...seriously, it's like a slow, mundane drain on life.

I would never work at subway but I like there subs there. But it does seem that all the people that work there are old women.

my only memorably pleasant subway experience was after a friend had locked the doors, was closing up, and let a few drunk friends have a go at fixing sandwiches from whatever ingredients were still accessible. i had a great time but he loathed the place. was kicking boxes out the back and refusing to sweep or mop or whatever he was supposed to be doing to close. he couldn't count how many ways the place pissed him off, and desperately needed us to get him home quickly to get high.

the description of this subway is pretty vivid.

i was wondering what kind of customers come into this place and is it possible to pay for a sub with food stamps?

Subway does blow. I don't like going there because the workers hate their jobs. They seem so angry when you order there. I had a friend who used to work there and they even promoted him to manager but he hated the job and quit.
