    Re: god vs. god MMV

    we have no control.

    no one has any control.

its just a damn spinning planet and we are hanging on trying to get by.

God or not, we all need something to believe in whether its ourselves, or someone else.

Its just a game of survival at the end of the day.

you do what u have to.

the word "control" does not exist in nature. control is a human based concept derived from trying to acquire power and maintain it. in my eyes, there is only one being that has power of control and at his/her will, but yet we have been given the choice of free will.

          Re: god vs. god MMV

          interesting point.
maybe not control then, but to systemise, rationalise and try to understand/function.

why we are here? what we are meant to do? how we are meant to do it? how are are meant to be?

we all search for answers. just have different ways and places to look for them.

u could open up a whole debate on the nature of nuture, the human system, the need for order, society, etc, etc.

i,m athiest but u say i like to be my own god ? i dont like to be my own god as u said, i was brought up as a catholic and my experiences from a very young were that i was being force fed views that didnt seem relevant for me and also being forced to do things i didnt really want to do i.s. things like choir practice and stuff like that, to me all religeons are about control and i draw that from my own experiences, of course there is something bigger than us and i would say its another lifeform of some kind or even the vastness of space but i wouldnt say that somewhere out there there is a heavenly being watching our every move blah b lah blah for me when u die u die and the only place u goto is a coffin then the ground, ur spirit ( lmao @ spirit ) doesnt suddenly decide to leave the body and seek out the heavenly place or whatever, people have a right to believe in what they want to believe imo so i,m not anti "follower" or whatever imo u have to respect other peoples views etc

here is the thing about faith that some people fail to realize. faith is a mere choice, you choose to believe. It is not for everyone, I have had things happen in my life that I can not logically explain and those actions have brought me closer to my faith. it was not because I was raised, but because one day I had something happen to me, and since I have decided I will carry that to my grave.

i agree red1. It is your choice and I respect that fully. I have a huge issue with faith stating someone will go to hell for not believing. It is as if they are stating the words of God as they were God. herm. It is not my duty nor obligation to judge, it is my Lords.

dom i judge people as i find them as a person it doesnt matter what u believe in or whatever, if i get on with someone then i get on with someone and thats it basically, my best fried is a serious follower goes to chapel every sunday and @ easter/christmas etc etc, when someone tries to force feed u there views ( and i,m not just talking about religeon here ) there will always be someone who dissagrees with that view, i take it as just part of life

exactly, mho is that it is good for some people and it is bad for others, tbh i,ve seen people turn there life around by turning to there bfaith and thats all cool in my eyes, but what i dont agree with is the church indoctering young kids from an age where they are easily manipulated into believing things when they are to young to know the difference between right and wrong, this is exactly what happened in my case

Faith, schmaith. Things happen that you can't explain so you just throw your hands in the air and give credit to some guy that people wrote about post-mortum? If there's something that I can't explain, and it intrigues me that much, then I actively seek to find the answer.

^^^ But what if you can't find the answer?

Ah, atheism...what a grand delusion! You atheists like to think you're free from that "crutch" of faith. And yet you're not very different in your inability to answer some very basic things...

(...such as why we and everything around us has come to exist; do we have free will, how is free will even possible in a purely science based world; what is the "meaning" or nature of our feelings - i.e., can you even have love and happiness in a purely science based world, and if so what does it mean...)

...and so you just basically say to yourselves "even if I personally can't explain it, it's all there...in the Scientific Method....somewhere..."

And even if you really believe that pure science says all there is to say about age-old human phenomena such as, say, "love"...most of you don't live your lives in accordance with the consequences of such a conclusion.

Are you sensing the irony here?

Through the very process that leads them to believe that they have opened their eyes and separated themselves from the blind faith followers, atheists end up demonstrating that they are just as much "bound" by a faith as everyone else.
