Anyone else using a "LightScribe" burner and disc's?

My dvd burner finally crapped out so I decided to buy one with the "LightScribe" printing capability.... cool to just flip the disc and burn the label with the laser, not cool to have to wait 25 frickin minutes on "best" to see the results..... Not sure how much faster it's going to be on "normal" or "draft" or even what the quality will be like.

get yourself an epson "instead" printer. you can print cd's and on dvd's. it's pretty cool.

thanks for letting me know about that. now I can just stick to a standard old burner.

it's too bad they don't put that info on the box when you buy it. but then...no one would want it.

        werd.

Got the Epson R300...god damn best $110 I ever spent on a printer (granted it's only my 2nd ever, but still...)

Printing on CD's looks sooooo good. If you shop hard enough, you can buy the printables pretty cheap..they'll still run you a bit more then regular CD-R's, but I believe they're cheaper then Lightscribes..

yep.... i probably should have done a little more research on the subject. generally if i'm going to do a "proper" promo release I just have mixonic press and burn the suckers in bulk. learned about them from scott carrelli and spesh back in 2002 and they do a great job and it's pretty reasonable as well. now that i've seen that printer though I think that's going to be my next option for doing stuff quickly and for the "convenience factor".

it's why I got it as well...to do promos proper. I always go the extra mile on mine, because even though they're good to begin with (otherwise I wouldn't be making any of them), that added extra "touch" goes a long way in standing yourself out from the crowd, especially when you can put it all together and design things yourself.
