              anyway, back to topic.. lol

i think this truly can be a good thing for up and comers to may be get paid for future endeavors, but being a jingle producer so to speak is a bit lame.

My understanding is that they won't be jingle producers. They'll rather take tracks that have already been produced and license their tracks to media such as advertisements, television shows, and movies. It's easy to be the devil's advocate here and say that commercialism will win in the end. Possibly, but I know I definitely wouldn't know about Dirty Vegas - Days Go By if it weren't for the Mitsubishi commercial. Another example is the series Nip Tuck. They play quite a bit of EDM on there that I never would've know about if it weren't for the series. iPod is another example. Sure you could argue that I need to "get out more often," but trust I listen to quite a bit of music each day. I'm only one person here though.

no, i understand..i wasnt meaning they were making tracks JUST for adverts, but if thats where all their tracks end up...

i agree with the days go by analogy, i woldnt have known much about it either.
and that bird having a seizure in the car during the ad, lol

Not necessarily. There's been a number of movies with EDM tracks that haven't been in commercials. I can understand your reply though as you're only trying to protect the integrity of the music.

i guess i also look at what Jacko did when he got the rights to the Beatles tracks, and we had bloody Nike adverts with Beatles music. THAT's what really gets me. or Cadillac and Led Zeppelin, that is a disgrace to me

I think is a good idea. In fact I wonder why is it that electronic music is not that big in the US if many comercials use EDM...

                            Re: A Great Idea

My initial thought was this. I Iive between Austin and San Antonio and I remember back in 98-2000ish I was able to attend some big festivals here. Electric Daisy Carnival being the largest at about 20,000, Sasha and Digweed stopped by I think in 99, but I missed that one. Ark Entertainment who brought S&D and the EDC used to bring many of the big name DJ's here and he had one of his large shows raided and cancelled a few and filed bankruptcy because of the pressure of the law coming down because of the rampant drug usage. I have not been to a show since 2001 because no one brings them around here anymore (or at least not to my knowledge)

Maybe if there is a bit more "public" or "commercial" exposure some of the heat will cool off and we can get back to having some good DJ's back in the states at some really huge venues again like there used to be back in da day
Greatly rejoicing in following God as a freedom not a choice.
