Seriously........ why does this shit even pass for news??? Who the bloody hell cares and why does this still make headlines? It's really fucking sad when someone from your neighborhood gets blown up by a roadside bomb in Iraq but is somehow less important than some "celebrities" sexuality. I'm not gay and have no plans on switching teams either but would anyone really care if I did? If someone here suddenly said "I'm gay!" would we no longer respond to their posts or read what they have to say? Ugh... I'm on my fucking soapbox today.....

all these ellens, mellissa ehtridges, chryl swoopes et al need to just go on about their lives. who cares that you are gay or not.. they want to be treated as equals, yet make it a big deal when they "come out". i mean, come on was any one surprised when ellen came out? or melissa ethridge? lol

I see your point...but I must add.
It's only a big deal, because the right wing media and red states make it so. They're just saying, "Hey, I'm gay." It's the fucked up world we live in that puts it in tabloids for weeks and weeks. It opens up a dialogue. They're doing a service to the gay community by using their celebrity to begin to open the door for those to come. It's a truly brave thing that they do, because they are from this point on recognized as a GAY-tennis player, or a GAY-singer, or GAY runner, GAY politician...etc. Instead of just tennis player, etc...you get my drift here.
As a gay man myself, I thank those people that have broken the ice for me in the past to make it easier when I came out. I hope that what I do today can make it easier for younger people. The more people begin to realize how normal homosexuality really is, the moment we can-as a human race-take that next step forward. Shit ain't easy for alot of gay youth out there in middle America...I applaud and send my love and respect to each and every one of them. It's gotta feel so empowering for someone in that position to see celebrities come out of the closet.
As a music community of ms'ers...most of us have had the distinct advantage of being exposed and enmeshing ourselves in an urban club culture;which fosters individuality, friendship, good times, dancing, expressing yourself, and openly accepting differences. That's who we are. That's what we're a part of. WE're the normal ones...we're the lucky ones, we're the chosen ones. (had to throw that one in there).
Being gay is no big deal, and it's up to each of us to reflect that. Gay or straight. Stand up for what you believe, be who you are, don't judge. Set an example and do your part to take us all forward.

The news is full of it. It makes me sick to my stomach. I see my "President" on the tv and I literally almost get sick. It's all over the news, sitcoms are no better sometimes.

This week on the WB: "Johnny's not straight...see how everone deals with the news, Friday at eight." I'm over it. I just watch movies, and listen to music myself.
At least music is REAL. And the connections I've made with people thru music are REAL.
