I had all 4 of mine removed over the summer, it hurt a bit, but i was way to fucked up on painkiller (vicodin) to notice. Only good thing about getting them removed is they hook you up with lots of pills.

        Re: Wisdom teeth

Yeah I had all mine pulled when I was 17 or 18, all four of them were really impacted. The first few days were ok then I started smoking again and trying to eat normal food and got dry sockets. Those were a motherfucker. My mouth hurt for a good week and half. It was like a throbbing pain but thinking back it was just more uncomfortable than real pain. Definitely got some refills on the vics though. Make sure you get more pills than you need because they are a good time once the pain subsides. All in all the pills made it worth it.

          Re: Wisdom teeth

          i'm a dentist so here's my thoughts
wisdom teeth have verry little value in our manducation, and they often erupt in malpositioned, mostly because they dont have space to erupt
this happends because, centuries ago, people use to eat more solid uncooked food, wich is good for teeh, but these days, everybody eats fast-food, mostly cooked food and the jaws adapt to the new nutrition and there's no need for that much teeth
a mature person should have 32 teeth teoreticly, but for what we need them, we should have 24 teeth, all the 4 molars of wisdom and the lateral incisors dont really participate to manducation and often erupt not in the right position
wisdom teeth are removed if they dont erup corectly, but if they are well positioned, they are kept, but still, they are the most exposed to cavities and as protetics, they have the lowest value so only in exeptional situations are used to dental bridges
it leaves to the judgement of the dentist
picklemonkey , i'm sure your dentist will tell you, after you remove those teeth, dont eat milk based food such as pudincs, icecream and warm stuff and because it afects you blood coagulation
smoking and chewing gum is not indicated too, because by sucking air out of you mouth you may remove the clot from the extraction place and you will have healing complications there
this regim should be kept for 24-48 hours, then you can go for the icecream and smoking
fom my experience, you'll feel some pain the next days after they are removed, and you need to take antiobiotics so you dont develope an infection there and some pain relief pills
visit the doctor the next days for the doctor to see the healing process goes well
hope you'll have a pain free removal and i'm sure you'll be ok
          good luck

it took me two days to recover after having all four of mine removed. if the doc does the operation like he should, you'll be moving around lie normal in no time. good luck.

I still got mine, and some of them are mildly impacting, one is coming in sideways, but it doesn't bother me so I'm going to sit it out and see what happens. Worst case senario I just end up getting the out anyway, right? If my teeth start to crowd then I'll consider it. I don't trust the oral sergon, he gets paid by the tooth. If I go to the nut kicker and he says I need 3 swift ones, should I do that too?

                  Anyway, good luck Pickle

I had three of mine removed. I was knocked out for the entire procedure. After it was said and done, it really wasn't that bad. I was eating solid food that same day and I didn't swell at all.

Having my teeth pulled was AWESOME. I was giving shots and nitrous oxide. Good times. First thing I said when I came to, "That was sweet, can I have some more teeth pulled?"

got mine all out in one swoop at the oral surgeon's...nitrous, dizzy, blackness, dizzy, vomit, mild hangover and odd swollen mouth... no problem, then there's the question of water-picking the open wounds to keep them clean, no big deal but if you don't do it it does not have the best effect on breath

my brother, otoh got his out on the local military base where we lived. he was wide awake the whole time with a pair of grunts joking and proding in his mouth, laughing and commenting on how loud his teeth were when they cracked. oral surgeon's the way to go...

I sorta lucked out in that I only had 2 wisdom teeth....however they were growing in horizontal. They had to cut open my gum, break up the tooth then remove it.

                                Fuggin nasty.

Just pray you dont get dry sockets, i hear they are a bitch!

                                And good luck !!
