    Wisdom teeth

So I'm getting my wisdom teeth removed tomorrow. On Nov 2nd I'm going to an oral sugeon's office, getting knocked out, and having all 4 wisdom teeth removed. My bottom two are growing horizontally, so he needs to cut down to them and cut them out in pieces. I can't wait...

My throat has been sore the past few days, too. Hopefully he doesn't tell me I have to wait before having my teeth removed because of it... I can imagine him telling me we should wait in case it gets infected or some shit, but we'll see. I already have 4 days scheduled off of work, plus I don't want to be the only person not stuffing my face on Thanksgiving! I'm ready to put this shit behind me.

I'm getting braces, too. My insurance doesn't cover it, so it looks like I'll be paying $4500 to get them. I really don't want them, but I need them. I guess I want them more than I don't, if that makes any sense.

Oh yeah. Harley escaped again yesterday while my roommate was home. I came home after about 7 hours of being gone and Harley was nowhere to be found. I was outside calling his name for 10 minutes before I finally heard a meow... played another classic game of marco polo for a few minutes and I found him hiding behind my neighbor's bushes, too scared to come to me. I crawled into the bushes a bit to grab him, and once he got inside he started going crazy for food. That's Harley for yas.

I moved 6 floors up at work this weekend. it's a big step going from having only 7 coworkers on my entire floor with my monitor facing the opposite way of the entrance, throwing sharp/pointy/deadly objects, etc. Now we have like 50 people on this floor, I'm on the same floor as my boss, and my computer screen can now be (partially) seen from the hall... less nsfw-ms'ing for me. more work, I guess.

i'm out. need to buy lots of mashed potatoes and applesauce.

I think most [ms] veterans remember my post whoring in early August of last year because of the Loritabs I was taking after all 4 teeth of mine got plucked.

You can't have manslaughter without laughter.

"Son," he said without preamble, "never trust a man who doesn't drink because he's probably a self-righteous sort, a man who thinks he knows right from wrong all the time. Some of them are good men, but in the name of goodness, they cause most of the suffering in the world. They're the judges, the meddlers. And, son, never trust a man who drinks but refuses to get drunk. They're usually afraid of something deep down inside, either that they're a coward or a fool or mean and violent. You can't trust a man who's afraid of himself. But sometimes, son, you can trust a man who occasionally kneels before a toilet. The chances are that he is learning something about humility and his natural human foolishness, about how to survive himself. It's damned hard for a man to take himself too seriously when he's heaving his guts into a dirty toilet bowl."

i have all mine removed, and of course was knocked out as part of the process. it was the only time i was ever put under so i too was a little worried. overall the experience wasn't that bad. as i was put under the oral surgeon was playing hotel california and asking me goofy questions. woke up and was out of it with a mouth full of cotton. took the painkillers as needed, but never really felt like i needed them.

don't worry too much and focus on getting your throat better and getting the whole thing over with.

I had a rather unusual experience when I was having mine out. The surgeon removed the top one on the right side and then he proceeded to the bottom tooth. He started to remove it like normal, then he got this really weird look on his face. The best that I could I asked him what was wrong. He said that I actually had 2 wisdom teeth, one on top of another! So, instead of easily pulling the first one, he proceeded to break it into small pieces. even with the Novocaine that FUCKIN' HURT!! He did that for the other one underneath too. To this day thinking about it still gives me pain where the teeth used to be.

I had two wisdom teeth pulled about 2 years ago. At that same time I had two canines pulled that had grown in above my top row of teeth. They were kinda cool actually, like fangs. I really didn't wont them pulled but the dentist was my girlfriend's dad, and he pulled them anyway. They would have eventually caused problems. I kept the fangs after they were pulled. They were over an inch long!

I hear about these pussies laying in bed for days eating icecream. I was at work the next day moving furniture. Fags!

              Re: Wisdom teeth

I remember when I had my wisdom teeth pulled... After waking up from surgery I could hardly comprehend anything. I just remember going home and pulling the gauze out of my mouth before I was going to take a nap. Pools of blood just started coming out of my mouth. I was like "What the fuck?" I then had to watch in torture as all my friends could eat solid food while I just had a diet of liquid foods. I had to later abandon my pain killers because they were starting to impede my ability to drive. To top it off I had a small case of dry socket. Dry socket hurts like a mofo. All in all I'm glad it's done with now.

had my 2 bottom ones removed about 5 years ago. right up til i had those removed i was dealing with some serious pain. the morning i woke up and had it done i was in near crying pain. i couldnt close my mouth or anything cos it was so swolen.
my upper wisdoms have come in so far thay they've actually broken pieces of my teeth in the back. not good.
a word of advice for you young nippers out there. if you go to have your wisdom teeth removed, do them all at the same time. its worth whatever money you spend. trust me.

I just spent $30 on puddings, jellos, mashed potatoes, ice creams, soups, etc. I have 6 days off of work starting tomorrow, and I'm not leaving my house once

Here's to waking up to a swollen mouth!

I took all four out as well. That was the first time I went under. That's the first and only time I've ever been operated on too! Waking up was surprisingly less painful than I expected.

I remember walking to HMV after, and buying Oakenfold's GU7 New York. Shit that was a long time ago

I had mine pulled at different times all in the dentists chair, compared to all your stories, they were pretty easy to get out.

About 6 months after the fourth one was pulled i started to get pain on my upper left side. I returned to the dentist where he informed me that another wisdom tooth was cutting through the gums - I'd never heard of anyone else having 5 until now!

Hope the pain don't incapacitate you too much picklemonkey

i never had them out, however i had significant oral surgery when i had braces as a teenager....if you can try to get just a local anethesia...that way you aren't such a mess for the rest of the day....pain killers will do the job afterwards....as far as the sore throat...the dr. probably won't opt out of doing the surgery unless it is really bad...he will probably start you on a course of antibiotics if he has any concerns....

                            good luck
