How about a big round of "F*** You!" to Sony?

I don?t think this has been posted here yet, and it probably could be @ MercuryEngine, but I think it?s serious enough to be posted here and get as many people as possible aware about this.

So, read this and think before you buy your next Sony/BMG CD.

I think these guys have gone too far.

Copy protected sony CDs now install a process which hides itself the way malware does, and constantly runs whether you have the cd in or it's builtin player launched or not. There is no metion of this in the EULA and no way to uninstall it. The blogger was able to hack it out of his system and it took down his cd-rom drive with it. They have a right to copyprotect this music, but not like this.

That's pretty fucked up! And the record companies think we should be paying them more money for this?!

Thats too much reading for me. However, Sony products are not my favortie. Apart from whatever else they do, Ive had many problems with their products.

oh please, people who say apple are better are zombies who just jump on bandwagons whenever they see a pathetic ultra-cool marketing campaign.

Whether it's sony or apple or any other company, they're all after your money and they will use every trick to get it.

DRM is nothing new, sony have been talking about it for years, i don't see the facination in this all of a sudden...

I checked the EULA and saw no mention of the fact that I was agreeing to have software put on my system that I couldn't uninstall. Now I was mad.

The entire experience was frustrating and irritating. Not only had Sony put software on my system that uses techniques commonly used by malware to mask its presence, the software is poorly written and provides no means for uninstall. Worse, most users that stumble across the cloaked files with a RKR scan will cripple their computer if they attempt the obvious step of deleting the cloaked files.
