    Firefox & Downloads

I just have a couple of questions about using Firefox and downloading.

    1. Is there a way to configure Firefox where you can rename the file you're downloading before you start the download?

I can do it in IE, but not Firefox. The reason I'm asking this is because of the downloads. For some reason if I try to assign an .mp3 extension to the file after it has downloaded it won't work.

    2. Has anyone else noticed that Firefox doesn't work well with MEGAUPLOAD?

For me it doesn't countdown or it will ask me if I want to open the file or save to disk, but the "OK" button is grayed out and won't let me go any further. If so, it takes a long time.

dont use that firefox download manager thing - its annoying. i use the extension Download Statusbar (as it says, a small status bar at the bottom of the window) and it asks me every time where i want to save/what i want to save as.

ff works fine with megaupload for me, although i dislike that site, its always slow as hell... but you gotta do what you gotta do

i use firefox and have no problems - i just click the download and it starts. If i dl from mercuryserver i have to rename the file afterwards, but other than that no problems

Is that a plug-in for Firefox that you downloaded? Also when you're renaming your files on your hard drive are you just renaming them by adding a ".mp3" to the existing filename?

I'm using ff 1.0.7 and works fine with MS downloads. I rename the file after downloading is done by adding "mp3". I've had some trouble with megaupload too... but I guess is the service that sucks

I am sure you don't have full access to extensions in your Explorer..here is an explanation how to change your settings: http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/..._new_faq_item1

I've noticed this too. I don't have a fix, but a workaround.... I fould a plug-in that has totally improved my Firefox experience, "Open in IE" which give you an option in your right-click menu to open links in IE which is key in these Megaupload situations, as well as any page that uses alot of Flash (I don't use Flash in Firefox). You can get it on Mozilla's site. I hope this helps.
