Good idea Jibs. My parents did the central stereo thing when their house was being built. Remoh I would at least run a few bundles of Cat 5 to each room. You can transport audio, video and data across it. Thats what Jibs was talking about, having rca jacks. Would certianly raise the value of your home (about 12000 typically). I would also wire it for a security system, if its not already being done not only can you do some really neat shit with alarm systems and home automation but it will lower your insurance costs. Doing these things afterwards are a real PITA.

Just run bundles from every room to a patch panel in the garage and you can change the function or routing of the wire from the panel.
