According to Ska you don't have the 'snackbar' as we have it in the USA? Those coffee corners are mushrooming here, and coffeerooms too, but they're quite new around these parts..

see, i find both starbucks and second cup coffee to be really bitter...and overpriced. 50 cents adds up fast when you buy two a day, every day.

nah, it's not even a brand name. It's a certain kind of place where you can buy snacks and fries, but really small. They usually don't even sell coffee there, but this thread kinde reminded me of what Ska said about that.

We don't have starbucks here i believe...there's one chain, but i forgot the name. Love their coffee though, you can get all kinds of flavours...heaven for the real coffee lover :d

Pretty weird though, since this country is know for it's love for good coffee! My mate sometimes makes us a nice cup of Cuban coffee: he grinds the beans in a special little grinder and uses and old type of coffeemachine (it's not a machine, so don't know how to name it): reservoir in the bottom, filter with coffee in the middle, and coffeepot on top. Heating will cause the water to go up through the filter (through a thin tube) and then spill over into the upper reservoir...man that stuff tastes good!

BTW..it's the perculator or colador I'm talking about that he uses. In the model he uses, the water doesn't boil, so the taste is pretty damn good...

Welcome!!! Nice to meet ya. Caffeine rules

Actually there used to be a club out on Long Island named Caffeine. It was kind of a shithole but they used to have some legendary post-rave afterhours till noon on Sundays. It was a pretty cracked-out affair, but they had a good system and some of the best local DJs used to throw down some really massive sets on those occasions. Ahhh, I'll never remember those days....

i much prefer some of the dutch "coffeeshops" to the ones we have here in the states.

No it was real coffee, and...I don't really smoke pot, so I don't really go to any coffeeshops. Stupid name for such a place anyway, but who am I? heheheh..

stovetop for the coffee? That's usually a great way to go, and over here they make them more so for capp's & espresso's...

Got a stovetop Capp (those new Mukka's)...those things make a pretty nice cup of cap..

I don't know what Joe told you about "snackbars" but I have only seen them in themeparks, stadiums etc.... Starbucks are EVERYWHERE. Snackbars are nowhere.

The method you are talking about is called a "Press" or "coffee press". Its an older technique making a comeback.
