Shiiiiiiiiit....that sounds horrible man. I've never heard it was so common until this thread. I'd be fucked...at times I eat a whole bag of em. That must indeed be traumatized, even if it wasn't his fault. Can't imagine how fucked up he feels..
another really serious allergy is to fish/seafood.
this scenario actually happened with my little brother...my mom had salmon for dinner, and later kissed my little brother, who was a baby at the time. where she kissed him reacted severely, and he had serious trouble breathing. you've never seen parents freak out until shit like that happens. ambulance was at our house within 5 minutes. shot of adrenalin to the rescue...

A couple years ago my g/f met me for lunch at this Chinese resturant near my work. I've never been big on seafood, but my g/f ordered a dish with prawns in it. I tried it. Anyways went back to work about an hour later felt itchy all over. Went to the restroom to look in the mirror and I was turning red. Went to the emergency room and got a shot of benedryl(sp?). I guess I'm allergic to shellfish and I never knew. Whats odd is I've had shrimp from time to time with no problems.

same here... my lips and eyes get puffy, i start to itch all over... breathing trouble. cats and dogs. worst with long-haired cats.
