    Mixer Advice

I'm a DJ on a budget since I'm a college student at the moment, but I was thinking about getting a different mixer. I currently have a Pioneer DJM-300S mixer and I was thinking about buying a Behringer DJX-700. There's a couple of reasons why:

    1. Bigger EQ range
    2. Kills switches
    3. More channels
    4. Built in efx

    Any advice is appreciated.

cant believe how much that thing looks like the pioneer djm 600.
is this a product put out by them? never heard of behringer before.

i'm curious as to how that mixer sounds, but have never used one so i couldnt offer much advice on that.
i think you can find the pioneer 500's cheap these days. they're still good mixers. used one at the pensacola party a few weeks back.
def do some shopping around. and if you can help it and spend a little extra cash, get yourself a pioneer 600. have had mine for 5+ years now and its still in pretty good condition despite being moved around alot. the efx on the 600 are far superior to that of the 500 too. just mentioned the other one cos its a little cheaper.

the Behringer DJ mixers are crap... avoid them at all costs... I had a VMX 300 and it was static-y

If your looking for efx, I would personally get a effects processor seperate from the mixer. My experience with mixers that have efx built in are harder to use and have less amount of tools to be worth the price.
I have a Red Sound Infader, 3 faders (1 for highs, 1 for mids, 1 for lows) an amazing mixer but only two channels. ($500) I also have an pioneer efx-500, the amount of use I have recieved from the efx makes it completly worth the money.

          My suggestion, get a zone32 mixer ($800)

          and a pioneer efx-500 ($400)

my buddies roomate has that behringer 700, and it's not very good. from its constuction to it sound reproduction.

the fx on a DJM500 destroy the behringers and they arnt much to brag about themselves.

so like caley martin said, avoid them at all costs.

i agree.. i have used both the behringer that looks like the djm600, and a pioneer djm500.. the behringer and the djm600 look alike, but thats where the similarities stop.. and thats why the behringer is 100's cheaper than a pioneer.. it is shite.

i suggest a djm500 if you are on a budget. the allen and heath are nice, but very pricey. look on ebay, always see tons of mixers on there priced very reasonable.

Allen & Heath all the way. I am waiting for my tax return so that I can buy one of these bad boys. Can't wait.

                    Re: Mixer Advice

Yeah, my first mixer was an Allen & Heath Xone 62 and I absolutely love it. I would occasionally spin at some smaller bars/clubs where I live and they all had the Behringer mixers. I would highly recommend not buying the Behringer mixers.

The sound quality is poor and the construction (knobs, faders, etc) is cheap. I know they are much cheaper than the Pioneer and A&H mixers, but if you can drop a few more bucks defintely go for a better mixer.

                      Re: Mixer Advice

I know it sucks to be on a budget. But that's what layaway is for. Take 200.00 and put a xone 62 or 92 on layaway and keep putting money toward it every week. Believe me in the long run you'll be much happier. Unless you've really got a thing for effects. Then put a DJM-600 on layaway. It's what I an many of my friends have and we all really are glad we spent the money for it.

Please don't put yourself through the pain of paying $300 for something that you'll wanna get rid of in a year...and if you do...and if you do get rid of it. You'll never be able to get most of your money back from it.
