Tech help On pioneerDVR-106D

I purchased a Sony Vaio Multmedia computer a couple of months ago, and I'm having problems with the Pioneer DVR-106d CD/dvd writer thats installed in it. I burned a few cd's to start , and they worked fine , and then it would't recognize them anymore. I switched to Sony CDR's and they worked fine ,but now it's not recognizing them either. It puts up an error that says "power calibration error". I didn't find any new drivers on Pioneer's website for this particular drive. I'm using Nero to burn music with. It's running on XP. Any Ideas?

Check pioneer's site for new firmware. Not sure if that's the problem but if it is a known they may have solved it with a firmware update.
