when did this shit come about

us that do enjoy christmas don't but into other peoples holidays and tell them they need to change the way they celebrate. our whole lives we've called it a christmas tree.....funny how i only see the people on the news refer to it as a holiday tree

i usualy get my christmas tree a day or two before christmas
i remember when i was little, the christmas tree apeared the night before christmas, on the 24 of december with all the gifts and stuff
it was a real trouble for my parents, hiding the tree from us, keeping us in a room for a whole hour and making the tree in short time for us to imagine that santa brought it
when santa came, it was a ring at the door and the magical tree was in the main room
ahh..., good old times

Other holidays aren't robed of their traditions, nobody's is insisting that a Channukah minora be called the "holiday candle holder" or the Ramadan fast be called the "holiday diet" or the Kwanza.. err, do they even have a tradition? you get the point....

I think it is backlash, and perhaps a little understandable since imo Christians have gotten really annoying lately.

It's CHRISTMAS tree!! People that celebrate Christmas should not have to change our terminoligy or traditions for people that don't.

We aren't asking people that celebrate Hanukka to change the name of the menora (sp?) to holiday candles

All the various holiday celebrations are important to those that celebrate them and the traditions should not be altered

i agree with kobe and dancinggirl that it's total bullshit to descriminate against only one religion. I am not a christian, but i refuse to get offended over theres, or anyone elses religious actions. Calling it a christmas tree isnt some subliminal message trying to convert the heathans. the fact that people wont shop at certain stores or buy certain products because of religious connotations is just petty, and stupid. i hope when im middle aged i have better shit to do then fight about what to call some stupid ass pine tree.

as christmas and all the holidays get more and more commercialized more people will be switching over to holiday over christmas because it has the possibility of bringing in more customers. call it what you want. it's your holiday and your traditions.

i was going to go get one and put it up, but my mom told me to wait because she has a tree to give me... but I won't see her again until Chistmas. maybe next year.
