that imo is an incredibly shitty thing to say and makes me wonder if you really know anything about the beatles music and their history. not to mention the way they were pushing sound and music to levels that no one in that time period could even comprehend.
i have had disscussions with several people (and i know it is a stretch) but i feel that in certain ways the music production that the beatles and in particular john put together were very much like the mixes and production used in electronic music today.
you have to think that back then there was only a 4 part recording to the tape tracks that they were using. look at certain tracks on Sgt. Pepper or the White Album for instance. full orchestra, random sounds, their music, and their vocals all had to be laid out on just those 4 tracks. the use of tempo changes, backwards recordings, volume adjustments for effect, and speeding up or slowing down sounds to create feelings and emotions. imo. this is the very early stages of the things that dj's are trying to continue to push today.
if you have to blame someone for the birth of "pop music" i would blame the monkeys, the worlds first boy band.
