Re: Now it's illegal to publish lyrics for free

this kind of bullshit will carry on as long as the record companies stay greedy and they always will be ...

more files shared = more exposure for the artists ... record companies want their money just like how they want food off a fast food joint ... they have forgotten the fact that artists need exposure in order for them to rake in the money, gone are the days where artists are heavy promoted over years just for them to grow and develope and have a following and make money ... whatever that they cant sell now they just blame it on technology and on file sharing and come out with ridiculous laws that hurt the industry more than it hurt their wallets

its just sad that the people running record companies are a bunch of cavemen that doesnt know how to make use of technology to work for them and ended up destroying everything

I seldom buy cd's these days for the simple reason that the price of them is ridiculous . Downloading them legit costs half as much. Apparently If you pay £13 for an album only £1.20 of that goes to the actual artist . Put session time in the studio onto that and ure looking at about £2 an album for artist and production costs . Why should i have to pay recording companies the goverment and everyone else the other £11 . I don't actualy use cd's to play music anywhere it goes onto pc then onto everything else , the cd is a one time use only . Tell you what i recon, all artists should have a paypal account and if we like what we download we should send them £2 ..
        Sounds fair to me

i did read from somewhere that only like 4.5% of your money paid for the cd goes to the artist ... 0.5% goes to the pressing of the cd ... 20% goes to the production costs ... and the rest of the 75% goes to the big wigs in record companies ... the actual percentage might be wrong but you get the drift ... and this was from way back before the whole mp3/technology thing even started

retarded really, you can't post song txt's or parts of it anymore? if they are smart and make songs with the most used sentences of the world they wouldn't have to sell a single album to get rich. they could just sue everybody for using there lyrics

we must not forget those regular people who work at the actual record companies. they take a bit of money from it. but i believe it IS mostly the big excutive vice presidents of those companies that take most of the chunk.

sadly, i think those people fall under the 20% together with the production costs

honestly? they've been cracking down on major lyrics sites for yeaaaars. i remember a long time ago (8+ yrs?) a great lyrics site that I used to visit all the time went down permanently because of the law

i just dont get it, it doesnt make any sense to me.. its so stupid to anyone trying to make this a law. therefore we will disallowed to sing the lyrics perhaps? so why the recorders and the artits include the song lyrics in their works? its something secret? this makes this questions and more their way of thinking so LAME.

Couldn't help but be reminded of this RIAA prank as I scrolled through these comments. Personally, if it wasn't for "piracy", I wouldn't have bought about 3/4 of the CDs I do own. God knows I can't tune the radio to hear the latest house or progressive releases so I've more or less taken the situation into my own hands, so at the end of the day, my ears are happy.

                        Anywho, here's the link.
