i wondered why i had bruises all over me when i woke up...

it was actually a pretty common occurence at spundae la or the old giant. it seemed like someone was always od'ing. damn f'n rookies.

          Re: OD'n at clubs

parties used to get pretty hairy here in tampa. i remember being at Fantasy Ranch (a strip club gone rave club every sat night @ 3am back in the day) and watching a heavy set kid dancing for hours, and at one point falling straight to the ground face first. i think GHB was the problem back then. this dude Lamar i was with, a 6'5" black dude i used to hang with, picked this kid up dragged him outside, and basically scared him back to life. he was telling this kid he was gonna beat the fuck out of him. needless to say the kid was scared shitless but stayed awake and alive. ive also had my fair share of 'fun' in clubs but never let it get so out of hand that i fall over unconscious.

anyone who's been around tampa for a while will remember this....

there was this club down town (more like a tool shack) that would open around 7 or so on sunday mornings. bigtime afterparty spot. we called it the Franklin Street Studio... anyway, the people that ran it used to bring in the big tanks of n2o. yes we all know what happens next... well one morning this girl was huffin a balloon and fell over and smacked her head on the concrete floor. she had a headache afterwards and eventually left. she made it home and went to sleep. well she never woke up. she died in her sleep from some internal brain injury, and shortly thereafter tampa city council passed some anti-rave law. in effect all clubs closed at 3am and that was that. bare in mind the clubs i used to go to only opened at 3am. anyway, its sad that people let their 'fun' get out of hand and do things like this to themselves.

will this part of our scene ever change? i seriously doubt it. the next generation is always right behind us all willing and all eager. maybe we as the older partiers can educate them!?!?

Club illusion (www.illusion.be) where I used to go to a lot was closed I guess two years ago (now it's open again in it's original state) when nearly 200 cops where there on a raid. They went into the club around 5 in the morning when there where like 700 people left... Some of them didn't want to throw their dope away and took the last xtc they had in their pockets... Some had to go to the hospital, and escaped there
The police found every known drug on the dancefloor and closed Illusion down for 6 months...

Now it's open again, still alot of E to find in there... but I have to admit, cool club, and always a party

I never have done any drug besides alcohol on the dancefloor and I don't need it either: when the music is good I'll get into a natural high anyway, which can make me go all night. I'll be knackered in the morning, but not so bad as I would've been when on drugs I guess...it limits me to one allnighter at a time, but that's allright for me: anything longer will fuck up my body anyway, and I wouldn't be enjoying myself anymore if that is the case. It should be fun, not destruction.

My old club the one i frequented the most throughtout my youth had the first ever extasy death( apparently the girl who died was spiked .Leah Betts i think her name was ) . Thankfuly the world remembers the Hacienda for the coulture it created and the "stars" it introduced to the world . Not the gang related incidents and stupidity of the few .

if it was in this day and age, sadly that's what it would be remembered for...

Yao said it best though..all I need is a little alcohol. I don't mind others doing stuff and some of my friends do various drugs at times, but I respect the fact that they do it in an occassional, moderation tone...they all know better and definitely all know their limits to a T.

It's the few morons who don't know their limits that begins to ruin it for the rest of us. I do take however a little solace in the fact that some of those few learn their lessons.

                      Re: OD'n at clubs

do you guys remember the old twilo od stories? the one that got them in all sorts of trouble is when security dragged a kid that was unconcious into a back room and were trying to wake him up. someone in the club called 911 and when the cops came looking for the kid who ODd the club wouldn't show them where he was. they caught a bunch of shit for that one.

then they hired a private ambulance to sit out front just in case and the city used that against them saying a place that needs a ambulance out front shouldnt be in business.

with all of that shit they ended up shutting twilo down for building code violations.
i really wish the floor would stop moving!

in houston back in the day, kids were forever falling out from eatin to many cookies or the occasional dude running around naked because he took to much cid. no limits. it bums you & kinda ruins your buzz a lil. i remember once at a party, no AC, just startin to have 'fun', take a step outside due to the sauna atmosphere when the fire marshal shows up to count heads & sees some dude in a khole at the entrance. needless to say no more people going in & eventually got shut down a lil early. but around here usually people keep in under control while ina club.
