A special 2 year anniversary party for Techno Sol! Brought to you in party by Spandecks and Saucebox

with your host, Suppoz // DJ set

    Thursday, January 19th
at Saucebox (214 SW Broadway, Portland, Oregon, USA)
10p, 21+, No Cover (as always)

I am very pleased to present a very special guest for the 2nd anniversary of Techno Sol at Saucebox. Troy Pierce (aka Louderbach, aka Slacknoise, and 1/3rd of Run Stop Restore w/Magda & Marc Houle) is one of the brightest up-and-coming stars of the international Techno scene. He is currently touring the world (seriously, the world) in support of his new Louderbach album, "Enemy Love" on Underl_ne Records, a collection of dark, eerie, and sometimes twisted minimal techno tracks that walk the line between dancefloor hits and after-hours jams--perfect for the environment of Techno Sol at Saucebox.

Raised in the cornfields of Indiana and brought up on quality Midwest house & techno (Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills, Derrick Carter, D-Wynn), Troy became a bit jaded by ten years in New York where the struggling minimal techno scene consisted of a handful of die-hard fanatics going against the commercial sound of a city that has seen it's day musically.

After relocating to Berlin in January '04 to focus more on dj/production, things quickly began to change. Within months, the first live performance as Slacknoise under Richie Hawtin's Minus label took place at the Magnet Club in Berlin (with Dinky and Pan Tone). Other notable live performaces followed in Montreal (Mutek with Magda, Jeff Samuel, Mathew Herbert) and New York (Minimize to Maximize with Magda, Mathew Jonson and Richie Hawtin)

In addtion to performing live, Troy is quickly establishing himself as a much sought after dj, often playing alongside label mates Richie Hawtin, Mathew Dear, Mathew Jonson, Magda, and others like Zip, Sammy D, and Ricardo Villalobos. Dj-ing in Detroit, New York, London (egg, the end), Zurich, Vienna, and of course Berlin.

As one of the first users of Final Scratch, Troy has always looked outside of the norm to embrace and integrate technology into his sets. A project is currently in the works with labelmate Magda to incorporate multiple laptops and other devices to achieve a set up that comes closer to a live performance than a traditional dj set.

This is a very special opportunity to see Troy Pierce in a small venue and for free. This is his only date in the Northwest (no Seattle, no Vancouver BC), and one of only 7 dates in the US on this tour.

Techno Sol is one of Portland's longest running weekly DJ nights. Starting in the summer of 2003 at Tube, Techno Sol has championed the fuzzy line dividing house and techno with an eye on inclusiveness and an ear on the future. In January of 2004, after a brief haitus, Techno Sol made the move to weekly Thursday nights at Saucebox. The classic lounge atmosphere of Saucebox proved the perfect setting for the sophisticated sounds of Techno Sol.

Originally the brainchild of Suppoz, over the past two years Techno Sol has grown to include two talented monthly residents DJ Polar (Proxima Rec./PDX) and The Perfect Cyn (Spandecks/PDX), and has played host to a number of excellent guests from Portland and beyond, including Geoff White, Gavin Froome, Nordic Soul, Kris Moon, Jeff Samuel, Brandon Plank, Brian Foote, Brad Vachal, P.Disco, and more!
