Actually Mike Mussina has one a championship with the Yankees.
Obviously as a Red Sox fan your not familiar with yankee players but Bernie Williams has won 4 championships with the Yanks and he is nototrious for having a terrible arm. The only reason he was a great fielder was b/c he could run down any hit and make the catch. So all this weak arm shit means nothing to people who are familiar with the Yankess. I'm sure there are some Yankee fans who can back me up on that.
Regarding, us getting big name players WHO CARES!! Last time I checked you guys already had the A-Rod deal in the bag until the players Union got involved and the Yankees came in and signed him. I know like Curt Schilling wasnot a big pick up, or signing Manny Ramirez or getting young stars like Josh Beckett. You guys sound so hypocritcal. You go for the same big names we do. And if you really want to go back in history in stealing players from arch rivals go back to to the late 90's when you guys were very aggresively trying to sign Bernie Williams when he was at the top of his game.
You will never hear a Yankee fan get upset about another arch rival team signing a big name NEVER. You know why? Because we love the competition. Do you Red Sox fans not want to see big name players in the AL east????? I was so happy to see players like Miguel Tejada get signed in our division. How come there wre no rants and raves about A.J. Burnett getting signed in out division?? Are you happy going to see your team play the no name Devil Rays.
Ok fine we sign big name players but like you said they don't help us. So instead of knocking the Yanks for getting these guys, just sit back and laugh and hope we fall flat on our face like we did in 2004.
I love my team but I will be the first person to stand up and say that the Red Sox fans have by far one of the best if not the best Fans in MLB or even all of sports! I hate the fact to see your team get dimantled like that. There was nothing more that I looked foward to then to see the Sox and Yanks go at it. If you guys want to get pissed don't worry about what's going on other's backyards worry about yours.
Do you not see that there is this vicious cycle of players leaving due to the higher management??? Pedro, Damon, Manny who wants to leave, Millar, Mueller, Carbrera, Derek Lowe. Nothing was done by your higher ups to keep these guys. All of these guys were essential in winning your 2004 championship. I mean for christ sake your awesome GM left b/c of your management team. You traded away Renteria after one year???? Are you kididng me he just got in the AL. Decision like that is what kills teams.
I really do hope you guys get some big names, I really do but you guys need to stop getting upset at others and continue doing the great job you guys do by rooting for your squad and continuing to get these good players. It's all about competition right??
