I used to be a big deep dish fan, but obviously they've changed directions as well. do i hate them or rip them because they're not catering specifically to me? not at all, i respect where there going and what they've done. i've found new dj's whohave turned me on to new things. thats just the thing, no matter what your into, theres always another dj out there who is really doing something you enjoy. just because some people change styles, doesn't mean all of a sudden the music sucks and your favorite dj's 'sold out' like some others seem to put it. i think this is a time in music where some of the lesser known talent really has an oppurtunity to shine.

heard Max Graham the other night and it's a complete 180 from where he used to be 4-5 years ago...so not only does the music change, the DJ's sometime change as well...too much good shit out there to just limit yourself to 1 particular area...

Re: Progressive going in a new direction?

being quite new to this music (started listening seriously to prog house about 1 year ago) i must admit that i find mixes by so-called big name djs mostly uninspiring and dull. their former work seems to be better though. maybe after some time i´ll be able to better value what they have done for the music. but as being a new-comer it´s just listening to the beats without any prejudices right now. so to speak its more about the new faces for me.. especially internet radio stations like mercury or proton are a very nice way to stay in contact with fresh music of this genre and spread music by new artists to a broad audience.

Re: Progressive going in a new direction?

This is my first post on MS since a very long time (I think the current evolution of prog has everything to do with that), but threads like this are always interesting to read. Honestly, I hope the 'contra' feeling against the nowadays progressive will make new DJ's and producers stand up and bring back 'the original feeling' of the music; probably resulting in a small 'original prog' scene, with small parties and so on ... but with music that brings up the old spirit. You won't hear me say that the old prog is better than electro prog, because that's only matter of personal taste. I just wanna say there should be a small scene again which brings up the original feelings and sounds again. It would let the prog heads choose in what they prefer to continue: new prog, old prog or maybe both. But like it is now, you are forced to deal with the electro sounding prog.

prog can go all over the place as long as it is good and avoids the ""sasha-studder the tune then dump in a new tune with a studder on ableton mixing stlye"". god can he please go back to vinyl and CD's
