        Re: the ringer

saw it last night. The movie is about a dude fixing the special olympics because he fucked up and needs some quick cash. It's not the funniest movie out there, but it's good for a few laughs if you're into the whole making-fun-of-retards scene (which I am. of course). I'm talking real 'tards too... not just actor 'tards. It gets a little stupid at times because you know the retardisms are just actors trying to act too hard, but overall it's fairly decent.

7/10 imo--because of the plethora of 'tard cameos and their exploitation

            Re: the ringer

I had the misfortune of seeing this. Kind of funny, since South Park did this exact idea last season, but the writer of this film is claiming they stole the idea from him.

If they did, they took the idea and improved on it massively. The film doesn't have a whole lot to laugh about, part of the reason being that the film has no teeth. I understand that the director took the stance of being politically correct, but he managed to render the film completely impotent.

Johnny Knoxville plays a office drone, who, when called up to the upper levels is charged with firing an employee as his first duty. Feeling guilty, he manages to hire the black listed employee as a private house/grounds keeper. A mishap has the man whom Knoxville took under his wing losing his fingers, and Knoxville is left with the bill for the re-attachment surgery, seeing how he promised the guy "full health coverage".

Maybe it's just me and my sense of humour, but I really felt this film was out of place after seeing how funny Wedding Crashers and The 40-Year-Old Virgin managed to get some laughs without fear of offending anyone. While there are a couple of laughs here and there (much of them provided by Knoxville's corrupt uncle), The Ringer certainly wasn't as funny as South Park was, and really wasn't much of an idea that you could make into a full length film.

I was pretty disappointed with this. Wait for video.
