Haha, spot on. What would the fathers of house think of all this homophobia? If we all ran off to dubious confrences and cited vague references everytime something gay happened, there's wouldn't be much of a scene at all eh?

              Re: Brokeback Mountain

I think the whole "Gay Cowboy" tag is hurting the film more than helping it. I saw it as being more complicated than two men that discover an attraction to each other on the range.
i couldn't agree more- which is why i made sure to say that is is WAY MORE than that- i personally hate the phrase myself- love is love right?

peloquin- the buttseks scene isn't that bad- very tastefully done, the most i heard from people during that scene in the theatres were tiny giggles if anything.

can't believe I'm reading this, in 2006, on an EDM board. It just defies explanation. Ignorance, pure and simple.

I haven't seen it yet and am not sure if I will or not. Frankly, I rarely subject myself to romance movies generally, so to the extent that it is essentially a romance movie, it really isn't really my cup of tea, gay, straight or otherwise. On the other hand, I might see it out of a sense of duty from a cultural literacy standpoint. Who knows. I'll probably end up breaking down and checking it out.

4 Golden Globes won last night, including Best Picture - Drama and best director Ang Lee.

Should be interesting to see what the Oscar nominations are going to be like in a couple of weeks.

is there any gay intercourse scenes?
if so i may pass on the film as i have no desire to watch two dudes scrump.
however, if there's a good story line and plot it will have my attention.

There is one scene, and they get it out of the way in the first 15 minutes. The film is structured sort of like Bound (the movie the Wachowski Brothers did just before they did The Matrix). Get the part that people expect out of the way and then move on to telling the story. It's pretty tame stuff.

                                Re: Brokeback Mountain

Sorry, it may be a well told movie, but me and most Americans don't care to see movies about gay lovers. I don't have to spend my time and money on something I'm not interested in. It doesn't make us bad people for not wanting to see the movie. I don't care to see many movies out there because I'm just not interested.

I am concerned about the attention the movie gets. Would it have got as much attention if it was a story involving a heterosexual relationship? Probably not is my guess. There seems to be a gay agenda in Hollyood and you're a terrible person if you're not on board. And I don't want to see the story about the ugly Desperate Housewive as a trans-sexual and couldn't care to see Pride & Prejudice either.
