    New Bill Patrick RA Column

Jan 2006 - Jesus would want you to celebrate Christmas

JESUS its been so long since i wrote once of these lil things. I don't even know where to begin. Well since i brought his name up lets give a shout to JC on another wonderful birthday this year. Seems like some cock-blockers though have been trying to ruin the X-mas fun by saying the term "Merry Christmas" is offensive and "Happy Holidays" and "Season Greetings" is more appropriate these days. You know what's appropriate? Having these people die. Give me a break. Honestly, if you take offense to little things like that then you need to loosen up a smidge. These types of people are the same ones that tattled on you in class when you pulled down Leslie's sweatpants during recess. It's sad that we as a society have people like this running around focusing their time and energy on useless causes. Speaking of wasting time and energy...

Ok so i have been getting lots of emails and threatening letters from various people and RA asking to write a new column. I honestly have been such a slag and i apologize. So much has happened since the last time we spoke, i feel like i hardly know you anymore. So lets get reacquainted shall we?

What I'll try and do is recap 2oo5 and give you some idea of what my world will look like in 2oo6. ...

Two Thousand and Five... not a bad one. It's been such a mental ride especially
the last 6 months. I think when i last left you I was about to head off to WMC.
Wow....yeah lots of people can just dissapear after conference, never to be seen
or heard from again. And though there were a few moments, one in particular
(anyone at the PawnShop party knows what i am talking about) where i thought it
was Pearly Gates time for me, everything worked out well and i managed to
survive another conference. Miami was great though. I don't really feel like
talking about it cus it was so long ago and honestly who cares. All you need to
know is that we (Robots) did the best party at BED with Sven Vath and then the
112 Crew played the best afterparty at PawnShop for Superfreq and Made. So it
worked out pretty well that i got to play the two best parties during
conference. And i know some of you are probably saying, "Um, sorry, but MY party
was the best..." No it wasn't, shut up. Your party sucked and there is no way
    the music was as good.

WMC 2006 is sure to be even better. To start with we will be having Sven back at
BED! If it ain't broke... and then lots of other unconfirmed goodness that i
will be sure to share with everyone once it is indeed confirmed. So keep
dropping by wearerobots.net for all the news.

Yeah, how bout a Robots year in review! Damn its been a good one. The party has
taken off and we are happy to say that we are happy. Yeah. We're happy. All the
parties have been fun and every one of the artist we've had play for us have
been phenomenal! So heading into out second year we are excited to keep it
rollin and continue supplying New York with good music.

We also started a radio show. Internet Radio that is. Every Thursday from 6-8p
EST RobotRadio goes live on http://www.eastvillageradio.com Tune in and check us out as we play lots
of tracks from the past, present and future. We also talk about stuff thats
going on in the world so its kinda like The Essential Mix meets Larry King, only
better. It's broadcast from a small studio in the east village (go figure) and
you never know who will pop in. So far Roberto Baggio, Gloria Estefan, Larry
Levan, Giorgio Moroder, Laurent Garnier, and Peabo Bryson have all stopped by to
chat with us, so tune in.*

OK i'm done with this recap crap. I dont want to look back at 2005 anymore. It
was a fun year and i'm over it. I went to Ibiza, played Dc-10, Cocoon in
Frankfurt, The End in London and some great parties in Romania, Argentina and St
Louis.. Those were great gigs and blah blah blah....who cares. If you want to
read about my summer in Ibiza than check out Lee Burridge's diary at www.djmag.com
(or go directly to it here ). So read that and then pretend you were
there with us. So please lets just look ahead to 2006. I partied like a rockstar
and i lived to not tell about it. All this "Best Of' crap is gay. And i know i
took part in a few of them on various messageboards but I am gay so i am
allowed. So Auf Wiedersehen 2005 and Het hallo 2006!!

ok fine i will give you what you want..i had a day to think it over and i shouldn't be such a grouch...so here it is.. my "Best Of 2005" list

    Label: Alphahouse

    DJ: Luciano
Runner up: Hawtin (hate to say it cus it is the cool kids choice but he just kicks ass)

Best Track: DAPAYK SOLO "Marek & Das Polenpony" KARLOFF
Runner up: Butane "the sound of digi-down" (Someone Else remix) Alphahouse
2nd runner up: Isolee "Pillowtalk" Playhouse
3rd runner up: Patrick Radditz "everglade" Weave

    Best Producer: Dapayk
    Runner up:Bruno Pronsato
    2nd Runner up: Someone Else

    Album: Bloc Party "Silent Alarm"
Runner Up: Isolee "We Are Monster" Playhouse

Best DJ set: Richie Hawtin at Cocoon Ibiza July 11th.
Runner up: Tobi Neumann, Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos, and Dinky at the Cocoon Afterparty Casita Verde, Ibiza

Live set: Dapayk @ Robots June 24th Runner up: Francois K at Robots 1 year anniversary
2nd runner up: Someone Else @ Robots Feb 18th

Best gig: Circo Loco at DC-10 Aug 22nd
Runner up: Superfreq at The End Aug 05
2nd Runner Up: Mei in Rosario Argentina, NYE into New Years Day

    Club night: Robots (obvoiusly).
    Runner up: Circo Loco Ibiza

    Club: Dc-10, Ibiza
    Runner up: Cielo, Ny

    Radio Show: RobotRadio on eastvillageradio.com

Best TV Show: NEXT on Mtv. This show is like crack. Tragic is the best word to describe it. Anyone who has seen it knows.

Runner Up: Laguna Beach Mtv. Honestly, this is shameful that i am admitting this in a public forum. But this show is like soft baked cookies dipped in crack and covered with rainbow colored heroin sprinkles. SOOOO ADDICTIVE!! Its just like my High School days, minus the hot girls, fancy cars, beautiful beaches, million dollar houses and expensive clothes. Other than that, its de ja vu.

2nd Runner up: My Super Sweet Sixteen on Mtv. I really dont watch Mtv that much but these three shows have just killed me this year. This is about some spoiled teen cunts that get their stupid parents to throw them these ridiculous Sweet Sixteen parties. It's like the ultimate "fuck you!" to poor kids. So bad it's awesome. I think I may secretly be a 14 year old girl trapped inside a 28 year old males body.

    Back to music>>
Watch out for: Robots taking over in 2006
Runner up: Franco Cinelli, Butane, Alphahouse Music

Best K-hole: with Mr C at Cocoon Afterparty Casita Verde, Ibiza
Runner up: with Dennis Rodgers at Richie Hawtin Halloween Cielo, Ny

Really that's it for now. I am tired and quite lazy. There are so many things
going on i have little time to write this column but i try my best to make time.
I do it for you. Not for me. I don't care about it but i know you people care
and want to read it cus it somehow brings some excitement into your otherwise
boring life. So that's why i write them. Thank me when you see me.

I'll write more when I find more time.

Some helpful tips and news for 2006:

    1. look out for a Robots mix cd (2 discs mixed my me and nick ac) sometime around june.

    2. a Robots label soon to follow.

    3. somebody close to you will die this year. So be prepared for that.
(sorry to be such a buzzkill but i thought you should know)

    4. if you see anyone wearing a Bluetooth head thingy please kick them in the teeth.

    5. look out for the following producers this year:

    FRANCO CINELLI (argentina)

    GEORGE S (argentina)

VIOLETT (argentina... yes there is alot of great talent coming out of Argentina right now)

DAPAYK (Germany... probably my favorite producer right now next to Butane. Man can do no wrong and blends
filthy techno with thick electro. Amazing. Please go to his site and d/l the latest live set of his. You will thank me later)

BUTANE (united states of america...his tracks are down right dirt and the next couple of releases will reshape techno in the states. Best label in North America.)

    6. wear condoms.
    7. please be safe and enjoy life.

my apologies for this column being so lame. I think i will just start doing some blog style action with this. Keep coming back and adding stuff. It's just that it's been so long since i wrote one and SO much has happened I don't even know where to begin. I would love to get into all of it but I would end up writing a novel. So please try not to get upset.. Crap, I feel like i may have let you down. Did I? I'm sorry about that. I will make it up to you i promise. Give me another chance and I promise i'll write the best column you've ever seen!!

Ok i feel better. Happy New Year everyone!

I don't like the "someone close to you will die this year" line
maybe they will maybe they won't the only thing worse than it happening is wasting time thinking about it before it actually happens

            other than that, thumbs up!
